Quitting work whilst on universal credit help

Hi,
I currently work part time whilst claiming universal credit. I have 2 kids aged 2 and 1. However recently my relative who was looking after my kids whilst I worked, is no longer able to look after my kids.
This means I would have to quit my job to look after my kids full time.
Will I get a sanction for this?

You claim childcare via UC. Unless they are very small, youngest under 3 I think, you can't quit to claim benefits.

Have a look on a Facebook group called universal credit essentials they are v knowledgable.
As far as I know though you can leave work due to child care issues

There's a number of allowable reasons to leave employment under UC - one of them is childcare.

Your child is also not of the age you are expected to work (or be looking for work)

It is likely they will accept childcare reasons as a valid reason to leave so i think you will be fine.

Why would you leave though if UC will pay your childcare costs?

I am not comfortable using childcare when my kids are unable to walk or talk (personal choice)

I would never use child care for my 2 year old… she’s terrified of strangers and I want to spend as much time as I can with her… stay on UC as long as you can
just say you carnt work cos you have kids to look after simple as that

Your two year old can't walk or talk?

Do you have a partner. If they earn over a certain amount you would be in light touch group anyway with no requirements to work. lack of childcare is considered a valid reason to leave a job anyway.

She can walk now. But she isnt talking fluently
