Does anyone know what the criteria is for recieving the maternity grant?

A friend suggested that I should try and apply for it.
It would be very very useful as we are really struggling atm but I have a feeling it goes on earnings.

Is that right?

I think you mean this, in which case yep you have to be on low income.

I'm certianly faced with costs that we're unable to meet grin

Sorry this is late. I got the Surestart maternity grant with baby no 3 as we get child tax credit at a higher rate than the family element (which is 545 per year I believe). This was because I took a career break after having baby no 2 and only my dH was earning.
