...what do I ask? I have no idea at all. I think the house is actually empty and as stupid as this will sound, are you allowed to ask if anyone has died there?

Ask whatever you want to ask!
I assume the agent will be showing you round? We have asked an agent if someone died in a house before!
Its beter if you can speak to the seller, you can ask aout neighbours etc, you dont always get an honest answer though!
Ask about the Council tax band, if the house has been maintained well (how old is CH system, boiler, kitchen bathroom, roof, wiring).

ask how long it has been on the market
if it has been on a while whilst other properties have been snapped up it may be over-priced
