My manager seems to think I'm not entitled to SMP as I am on a zero hour contract, is this right?

And if I'm not entitled to SMP how does Maternity Allowance work?

I'm so worried that when I leave work in a few weeks I'm going to have no money..

Has anyone else been through this?

Yes I was on a zero hour contract and wasn't entitled to SMP, I had to (4 yrs ago now so things might have changed) go to my local job center for MA forms, I filled it out and sent away my wage slips for proof of income. I think it's £135ish weekly for 9 months, once I sent my forms away I heard back from them quick. You choose when you want MA to start.
