Mortgage - 2 residential?

We are currently looking to move home and ideally my mum is going to live in our house with us while we buy another to do up and move into.

So we will need 2 residential mortgages as she will live in our house but not be our tenant? Is that allowed?

Why do you need 2 mortgages?

Sorry, just read that again.... you mean you have a mortgage on the original property and you need a mortgage to buy the new property as well. You'll need to talk to your bank as they'll have to be happy that you can afford to meet the payments. If mum is contributing to household bills while she lives with you she's not necessarily a tenant, but you can't class the money you get from her as income.

Sorry for the babble!

That's it she will contribute but not be a tenant as such. She can't afford to rent in a better area so we want to try and help x
