I'm currently on maternity leave from work aan was just wondering if anyone could help me sense of SMP. I don't know whether it's my baby brain or if I'm being stupid but I genuinely cannot figure out my payslip.

Do I get paid SMP on top of my salary? Also how much SMP do I get paid?

It says SMP £385 on my wageslip for last month but I was only on maternity leave for a week and a half ? Surely this is too much to be paid to me on top of my normal salary.

Any help would be much appreciated.

For the first 6 weeks you get 90% of your salary and then it drops to SMP. Does this help?
