So don’t want to out myself but I’ll try include as much detail as possible.
Left ex a few weeks ago, been DV convictions against him but has been a couple of years nearly. DC have been on child protection register because of it.

Have solicitor with idva tomorrow - thinking of applying for a residence order, as it takes a long time for a child arrangement order apparently about a year?

Ex is shift worker but has only had ds the odd hour here and there apart from sat in which wasn’t great.
He will only have him on his terms and at short notice to me then video calls as or when he feels like it.

For example Ive a health appt on Sat, I’ve asked ex to have ds for a couple of hours.
Because I didn’t explain why he’s refused.
He’s also refusing to have him so I can work - I’m also a shift worker and have always worked my shifts around him.

Just typing this out makes it clear to me I’m doing the right thing. I was starting to panic I wasn’t.
It’s a shame - I know a lot of people say it but he was a good dad.
