Probate solicitor query

I am trying to find out how to find the solicitor that is handling the probate for my deceased neighbour, it has been going on for over 3 years and the house is empty. We are adjoining and there are problems with damp coming though and the garden is really overgrown. Does anybody know how to find out who the solicitor is, sadly she had no relatives to ask. Thanks.

I would post a letter to the house. I'm guessing there is either a redirect instruction on that address or the post is collected occasionally.

Thank you for your responses. Nobody collect post or ever visits, there is a pile of post behind the door. Will have a look at that link, thanks.

In our area you have to pay Council Tax on empty properties. Perhaps your local Council will be able to help if you contact them. Say you are worried about vermin and decay in an abandoned house next door.

There may not be any probate, it could just be an empty house now. Like pp said call the local council, you could try environmental health, l wonder if the land registry would know if anyone owns the property.

The solicitor handling the estate should have posted in the London Gazette (assuming, perhaps wrongly, you are in England) as part of the probate application asking anyone with a claim against the estate to get in touch, and giving their correspondence address. If you know the name of the deceased just Google “estate of John Smith” (actually, hope it’s not John Smith), or search in the Gazette online. This should work even if probate hasn’t been granted yet.
