Please help if you are in the know. Am getting conflicting advice.
Am getting divorced, buying ex out of the house.
Do I need to pay stamp duty on the money I give him?
Thanks

You pay stamp duty on the transfer of a house, but if it’s persuant to a court order it’s exempt from SD.

Came on just to say what Collaborate said already.

As per usual grin

Thanks collaborate and mumblechum0, was hoping that as it's part of divorce it wouldn't count.

It's surprising how many mortgage brokers and conveyancing firms don't appear to know this as my divorce clients get the same conflicting advice a lot

Thank you familylaw. I called hmrc and it was clarified that if it's part of a divorce then it was exempt.
