Why can't they withdraw their claim?

Hi, long story short a company did damage when on my property doing other work. They didn't put it right so I held back some payment. They decided to take me to court rather than put it right, but after I entered a counter claim they have agreed to withdraw their claim... except they say they can't because of my counterclaim and I have to withdraw mine. Are they right? I feel like they are trying to get me to withdraw my claim so that theirs will stand.

Have you contacted the court? They should be able to advise you over the phone. I've found them helpful in the past.
