Life Insurance muddle.

One of our two life insurances expired recently so I asked Legal & General for a summary of our remaining policy so I know exactly where we stand and if I need to do anything about increasing cover etc.
The summary arrived today. DH and I named as persons covered but the owner of the policy is named as a company neither of us have heard of.
Obviously I get on the phone immediately - and I'm offered no explanation at all really. Except - we'll remove the company and sorry.
Am I being unreasonable to be seething? What if we'd been wiped out in an accident and our DC had needed to make a claim. I've asked for a full explanation but not sure how to proceed.
Any ideas - please.
