I put in my mother of the bride and DD's bridesmaid dress to the dry cleaners 6 weeks ago anad they seem to have lsot them. These were expensive items and so far the company has just shruged their shoulders and have said they will look into this.
I have heard nothing.

What action can l now take?

You'll have to look at their T&Cs. Are they the member of a trade association with a complaints procedure?

Wait and see what they come up with. I'd give them no more than a week.

... and then small claims court if their own procedures fail.

They should have insurance and you can make a claim for the value if the have lost the goods. But do start with their T+Cs.
