I have a child protection order due to dv. he apparently is now fine. I have gone to AA for a few months and Dvip woman's group and about to start counselling. at my last conference they mentioned a hair strand test. can they do this?

As babybarrister says. If the court feels it is appropriate it will order it (and in any case if you did something like getting one done yourself and submitting it to the court it may be refused anyway).

Also agree about accepting overuse. Being seen to take responsibility for any issues goes a long way in my experience - written evidence of this such as visiting the doctor for liver function tests, engaging with substance abuse organisations, etc. often impresses the court a great deal.
