Harassment order

Hi- quick question. Would I know if a harassment order had been taken out against me? Someone claims that they have a court order against me but I have not received any paper work at all. This means that I have breached an order that I didn't know existed. Thanks for your help. Smile

If you have not been served with a copy of the order you cannot be in breach of it. If you know which court issued it you can contact them for confirmation if you wish.

Thank you. I know nothing about it at all and don't know which court has issued it- if indeed they have. I suspect it doesn't exist. Are both sides listened to before an order is issued?

If you are made aware of the existence of an order against you, and the salient terms, you may be bound by it even though you may not have received the paperwork. Such orders at times contain a proviso that the order is binding on the Respondent/Defendant from the moment it is served on him/her or from when the terms of the order are brought to his/her attention.
