Separarion from husband. Do I need a lawyer?

My husband and I have unfortunately decided to separate after 13 years together.. We have 3 children together all under 12. I have not worked since my first child was born, and my husband has worked abroad and away for the last 7 years. He says that he will pay all the bills and provide me with plenty of money to carry on as we are and not to waste money on a solicitor. I want to believe him but I am concerned he could change his mind at any point. Does anybody have any advice or know any good solicitors in York that I could get some advice from? I have recently started a training course but even once completed would not be able to manage financially on my own. Many thanks

Just from my own experience I would say go and see a few making use of the free initial half hour that a lot of them offer as you will be able to get an idea of what you need to do to protect yourself. Good luck.
