Can anyone help with the application process for the job of Crown Prosecutor please?

I understand that part of the recruitment process is a written assessment test consisting of a case study which will take about an hour to complete.

Can anyone give me some guidance as to the type of case study? I am assuming it will be assessing evidence and considering whether there is a reaasonable prospect of conviction but just want to make sure.

It is a long time since I have worked (been SAHM for 11 years) or applied for work and I would like to be as well prepared as possible for the assessment.

Thank you!

Hi I do not work for the cps but do work for a section of the civil service as a solicitor. When I was recruited, which was a long time ago(15 years!) we had to do this type of exercise but the subject matter was not related to the area that I work in. It was something totally random. We were basically given a set of regulations, a case study and some questions to answer. We had to hand this in and the panel looked at the answer and discussed it in the interview. It was testing the candidate's ability to apply the law, and get to the crux of the matter.

Hello Atlasdragon, thankyou for responding. Am glad I posted as I was assuming the case study would be criminal law based. At least I won't be too surprised now if it's not.

Well as I said it was a long time ago! I think that the pre interview information may have said that the exercise wouldn't necessarily be related to the subject matter of the job.

Thankyou! Am certainly going to need a lot of luck or a miracle to get a job after 11 years out of the profession!
