birth certificate

Hi

Im new here but in need of advice, my sons girl friend had a baby 6 weeks ago (my child) and she went with her mother and registered the child and told my son they can add his name at a later date... they didnt register in his name which i can understand but for them to not ad my son i can understand.They are still a couple and we see the baby but im thinking of the the future for our grand baby and my son...any advice of what we can do ???

If they are not married and your son didn't go with them then legally they would not have been able to add him to the birth certificate - Unmarried parents must attend together.

What does your son think? If he wanted to be on the birth certificate why did he not go?

He wants so much to be on it. They went under the impression that "they" could name him on certificate. the registra said they can bring him back and add his name on the register when hes available,but i dont think they want it adding and may use as a weapon.

Best thing he can do is arrange to go back with her and add his name.

Currently he doesn't have parental responsibility and although this may seem insignificant now there are repercussions - he can't give consent for medical stuff etc.

If she won't arrange to get his name put on then this does show something. Although it wouldn't be great for their relationship he can apply for pr through the courts - very easy to do and then add his name to the birth certificate.
