In simple terms, everything you and your husband own will go into the pot to be divided between you regardless of who nominally owns it. If you cannot agree how to divide things the courts will decide. The first priority will be to ensure that everyone has a roof over their heads. The court will split the assets fairly. That doesn't necessarily mean a 50/50 split. Depending on the circumstances you may be entitled to more or less than 50%. You will be entitled to child maintenance and may also be entitled to spousal maintenance.
