Legal matters

photographer not answering my calls

I had a series of photos of my DD taken, at a few months, when sitting, when standing. I paid for a package that included all the pictures and sittings. I do not have the receipt for this, (stupid i know).
The photographer has closed her studio and is not replying to contact I am making via website, phone, I have even posted a note through the studio door. I just want the pictures of my child and am gutted that these are all gone.
Trading standards said there is not a lot i can do apart from taking her to court for the money I paid (which would not be worth the legal expenses).
I'm desperate is there any thing else I can do?

I think the small claims court is very cheap for fees and once she gets the papers she may well give you the photos target than fight over money.

If the photographer has a FB page for her business (lots do) you could ask openly on there. Might make her answer you.

Fees in the small claims court are low and you would be able to reclaim your fees from the photographer (unless, of course, she has no money).

Forgot to mention, if you do take her to court do not use a solicitor. You can reclaim your court fees but not your solicitor's fees.

Does the studio look like it's gone? As in things have been removed etc? Can you find out if the premises are up for rent or sale?

Maybe worth saying to her you aren't that bothered about prints or edits but you'd at least like the digital files. Surely even an out of business photographer has the memory cards the photos are on & could email them or just give you the card? Sorry to hear this has happened as I would be upset too.

I'm upset as my newborn photos still haven't turned up and it's been nearly a month since they were taken! Trying to be patient but not succeeding very well - hence why I can see how you'd be devastated.
