I'm a sahm and me and dp hoping to buy our first home together. It wil be in joint names but we are not married and I want to make sure to protect myself should the worst happen so as he will be working to pay mortgage and I'll be looking after children do we need to set up a joint account for the actual moneys to come out from? So it is obviously joint ownership? I've heard of cases where the men say wen splitting that she never contributed to the mortgage:-/

Having the mortgage payment come out of a joint account won't make any difference to the ownership of the property, if its joint names then it'll be 50/50 ownership unless you ask your solicitor to draw it up differently.
