Registering for VAT

This is probably not the right place, and if so I'd be grateful if you'd point me in the right direction!

My brother has just incorporated a company (Ltd) and wants to register for VAT. As he is going to give me shares in it, I am helping him with various admin tasks and this is one.

What info do I need to do this online?

I have the Unique Taxpayer reference and assume this is how you log in to HMRC's gateway thing. I don't have his password so will have to ask for that.

I have the Company number.

What other information do they require, on the form?

If I know what is needed before I start logging in and filling it in, then I can ask him for all of it in one go and just get on with it, instead of doing it in dribs and drabs, and constantly bothering him. He can get on with actually producing the stuff that the company actually does.
