Over the past 8 months I have posted here about BIL who split from his awful abusive exP. Just a quick update at the first court hearing Exp's witness statement was a pack of lies about why the house should be given to her in a greater share - thinking 80/20.

BILs solicitor (who spends so much time on holiday she is s**t hot when she's at work!) put together a bundle, not only a cast iron case for a 50/50 split of the Property, but enclosing emails proving her an outright liar - as in 'I state categorically he has not asked me to sell the house'...her email: 'you have asked me many times you want to sell' way back in JANUARY!

Despite efforts to talk down the house valuation (estate agent actually confimed this) if she doesnt agree to a very reasonable £160K a surveyor will be ordered by the court (her to pay half!) and there is no way she can influence them!

The solicitor even used some of the statements I wrote up on BILs behalf in his witness statement as they were well written Smile and she has got ExP stitched up like a kipper. Bypassed mediation as a waste of time and money too! It will cost £3-4K I guess but I would advise anyone in a similar position to get legal advice and to hell with the cost! BIL is Grin ear to ear - us too!

I've always thought mediation is a good way of keeping legal costs down but maybe it is different with family law.

Mediation is great with people who are prepared to be reasonable...

ExP said 'you can pay for mediation, but I will not co operate, so you can lose that money!!'

Mediation is brilliant if people are reasonable.
