Hi. Had problems conceiving my 2nd child. 1st child conceived 1st mth of trying, fell pregnant straight away again when trying for 2nd child but had v. early miscarriage. I kept trying for a few months and nothing so due to my age (39 at the time), sought medical advice after about 4 mths and myself and husband fully checked out. Husband had a good sperm count, with me, my FSD levels were borderline on high (were 10). Decided not to wait for fate and went to the ARG clinic off Harley Street for IVF (decided against other routes such as fertility pills and another procedure which can't remember the name of but is the one before IVF, which is often recommended). However, fell pregnant in the last month before my IVF programme was due to start. I am convinced that because i was focussing on the IVF programme and how i would juggle that with work and a 3 year old, i wasn't focussed on getting pregnant naturally. I think waiting for fate just makes the whole thing more pressurised. ARG was the best clinic for my age group in terms of success rate, although expensive. Hope this doesn't sound like advice, just sharing my experience. Good luck with whatever you decide to do next.

Hi, sorry just realised you are asking about conceiving no. 4 (didn't get much sleep last night with my 3 mth old!). Not sure if my experience helps then - though is there any medical evidence that it is more difficult to conceive the more children you have had? Have not heard of that through the investigations etc that i had.

mumtoo3 - only just come across your thread, but wanted to say you are not alone. I am ttc#4, but instead having repeated miscarriages. I am guessing it is just my age that has made the difference, but it does not help. I have had loads of tests done to look for any problems, but none found. I think it just is one of those things. Lets hope we both get success soon.

Hi mumto3

In terms of what other people have gone through it wasn't too bad but for me ttc#4 was most difficult.

My first 3 were all happy accidents so I'd never actually ttc before. I actually fell pregnant Dec 08 accidentally again but had a m/c at just over 5 weeks. We then decided we would ttc number 4 and I fell pregnant in Jan 09 the following month and again m/c.

It then took me until August to fall pregnant and I'm now 20 weeks gone.

So compared to my others the fourth was definitely the most difficult.

I just turned 30 btw.

Good luck
