For everyday illness I mean.

I swear I'm there about once a week.
I wonder if I could book a permanent appt so save time

Todays visit was for ds4, his cradle cap disgustly manky infected so we needed some cream.

Hardly ever! Sorry LadyT. I know that's not the answer that you wanted.

I think you should comfort yourself with the knowledge that you produce some rather lovely offspring!

they might be lovely but they're unhealthy little buggers

We dont go very often but ds1 is a mischievous little so and so, therefore is constantly banging/bumping/cutting/severing parts of his body.

I can for see alot of A&E trips in the near future with him.

My Mil used to tell me that dh was on first name terms with the A&E staff when he was younger.

Not very often thankfully

Thankfully not very often (once every 3 months maybe?)

Mine also rarely go, certainly not for routine-type illness. I think in last year the doctor visit tally is

DS1: 1 (weird virus, didnt get out of bed for 2 days)
DS2: None
DD: 1 (cut on head needed stitches)
DS3: Just jabs, routine post-birth checks.

Hardly ever!

I have one DD who has asthma, so we go to the docs about every 18 months. Can't remember taking anyone else in the last 5 years.

Hardly ever. I think in the last year DS2 went once for verrucas and DS1 for a tummy pain which i think was a pulled muscle. And thats all. DD1 and DD2 haven't been for a while.
DS1 has had no absences from school since september.DS2 had one day off i think. DD1 had a few off for coughs.

It goes in fits and starts, the last time I said to my friend 'God, we haven't been to the doctor in ages' (no my friend is not God!), we ended up going in 4 times in 10 days. Now, I don't mention or think about doctor visits.

Was always there with pfb dd1. Hardly ever with dd2, and whole years (touch wood!) go by for ds Last time there, (for a health certificate rather than illness) doctor commented on how small his record is. dd3 only ever there for the revolting infections she seems expert at picking up from revolting school.

Have to say, it is such an ordeal getting an appointment and then waiting hours to be seen, I really have to have no other option to go.

And yes, it is still dd1 who has the sort of health problems that need to need medical attention.

Only the 3 but thanks to dd1 we are at gps, hospital, walk in etc at least once a week every week for the past 2 and a half years..then if one of the other 2 are in ill means we end up going more and our social life consists of medical visits.

i only have 2dc so not really qualified to be on here (although i lurk all the time as i would love to be an owl ) but i find i am never at the doctors. a&e is a diffrent matter though. we have had

1/ 2 concussions (sp?) from dd1

2/ 2 elecrocutions (sp?)from dd2

3/ one raisin stuck up a nose

4/ one broken nose

5/ one susspected broken leg

6/ one asthma attack that required being rushed to a&e blue lights flashing

7/ odd spots growing on dd1's tongue that after 5 hours turned out to be thrush

8/ one 20p piece stuck in dd2's throat, i managed to get this out on my own but still had to take her for a check up.

9/ one foot caught in the u bend of the toilet (also had to deal with this myself)

you would never believe that i am an over protective mum

We have 4 DCs. Is that large enough? We are rarely at the GPs (thankfully). Last time was DDs routine Asthma check about 2 months ago.

Report
MrsWeasley · 20/07/2008 18:49

but I should clarify that my DCs ae now 7, 9, 11 &13. We were there more often when they were younger.

Only 3 dcs but can't remember the last time I took any of them to the doctor for anything other than immunisations. Ds2 did go through a phase a couple of years ago where he had to go to A&E twice (probably should have gone a few other times too) but thankfully he has got slightly more sensible

Foot stuck down the toilet?! kerryk that's a classic family story for decades to come, methinks.

dc1 - always when she was little as she has a rare chromo disorder. Never now.
dc2 - only ever for jabs/routine checks

dc3 - as above apart from when he had a rota virus and was admitted to hosp.
dc4 - 6/7 times other than routine.
Must admit our docs do telephone consults if i need to speak to them but it's rare. dc's are 10,8,4 and 2.
