So recently my son turned 5. We didn't have plans for on his birthday as his party was a couple of days later. Usually we are inundated with family visiting however on his birthday only my in-laws and grandparents came. My mum, dad, brothers and sister just didn't show up. He spent all day asking who's coming next, and they never showed, nor even a happy birthday message. It's been 5 days since his birthday now and apart from having it out with my sister still no one has put in any effort. We are or atleast were a very close knit family and all live in same town. It hurts more because he is aware they haven't been and has regularly said they didn't come to my birthday. My husband just thinks I should ignore them but I'm hurt over it. Is it just me or have I got a right to be angry and upset.

Did they come to the party?

Did they send cards? It does sound a bit shit for him if this year was so different from usual. What did your sister say?

No I didn't. My sister said I should of phoned to tell them. I have another two children and they called in on their birthdays. It's something we have always done as we live so close. We don't phone to check anyone's in we just turn up.

For his "party" I took a group of his friends trampolining as that's what he had asked for so it wasn't something everyone would gather for.

Ask your parents why they didn't call over. They probably forgot.

They said they were busy. I'm sorry but that just doesn't cut it. Not one reason they could give justified not turning up for ten mins. My dad apologised tonight but my mum told me to get out after I told them what I thought.
