Just found out I'm pg with #3 ...

Literally had a +ve pg test today and I'm about 4 weeks.

Dds are almost 7yo and almost 4yo; I've wondered about having another baby for a couple of years and it was getting to the point of 'it's now or never': dd1 took 9m to conceive naturally and dd2 took 2y and 6 cycles of clomid, so this pg happening after 3m of not trying very hard has left me a bit Shock today, to say the least!

Both girls will be in FT school by the time this baby is born. I have been properly broody for months and a little jealous of every bump I've seen, but why am I so shocked? I have felt tearful and quite like I've been on a roller coaster of elation and worry/disbelief all day (it's worth saying that the baby will prob be born by ELCS as I had a bad birth with dd1 and elected for CS with dd2. Would elect again but am feeling a bit 'eeek!' now). The shock wears off, doesn't it? I didn't feel shock with dds, so this is new.

Please tell me the best things about having 3dcs and any tips you might have for running a house that has 3 children Smile I need some very positive things to focus on to calm me down! TIA

Our 3 are DS 8,DS 6 and DD 4..... It's pretty crazy and full on but I love it! Our DS6 is disabled so still in nappies, peg fed and developmentally only 18-24 mths, so I never get broody!!! DD wasn't invited to our part but we are totally chuffed she came!!!

Congratulations X

Same gaps as me Smile except mine are now 18, 14 and 10.....

I loved having time with each baby as the others went off to school.

They don't play much with each other, to be fair, due to the age gaps, but they each have their own gang of friends and different interests.

Congratulations Flowers

I have three, the third one was a big surprise. He just slotted in very easily, and was such an easy baby.

Ds2 is now 14mo. Ds1 is 8, dd is 6. Ds2's routine kind of evolved around the school run Grin but it was hard going in the early days, when he'd want a feed first thing, then always another before leaving the house!

Its fabulous watching the relationship develop between the 3 of them. Ds2 loves coming into the other's bedrooms in the morning to wake them up. And they both marvel at every stage of his development, and love knowing what they were doing at that age too!

I have 3 and love it. With the older two in school you will have lots of time to enjoy your baby - and nap!!!

When your baby arrives you will fall madly in love all over again. I'm sure your children will also be very excited to have a baby sister or brother. What does the baby's father think? Congratulations, I love having three. The best thing about having three is just that we have more fun and after 2 girls our youngest is a boy and he changed the family dynamic in an interesting way. He and dd2 are best friends so I don't know what she would do without him. She is our most energetic and outrageous so she drags him into all her adventures.

Having 3 DCs is great and having 4 is even better Wink. I loved having DC3 - I knew what I was doing, I had a confidence I hadn't had with the older 2- and yes, they just slot it. And your age gap is a good one, I reckon - the older DCs will be old enough to understand but not so old so that they might feel jealous.

Congratulations Molotov I remember your 3rd dcs chat from other threads.

I've had my 'will we won't we?' 3rd DC myself now.

It's hard feeling torn when you don't have enough hands ESP when there's not both of us around but dc3 is so lovely!
Good luck with the pregnancy and birth!

Three is amazing and your other kids are a great age. They will dote on the baby and are old enough not to be jealous. You will love it

Echoing lots of pp I absolutely love having three. Ours are 5, 4 and nearly 1 now. DC3 is a delight, he brings so much joy not only to me and my dh but also to his older siblings, who in turn just adore him. All the very best to you! I remember your will we won't we threads too! I am now contemplating DC4.... 😊

I felt just the same as you and my age gaps are the same! Dc3 is almost 2 now. The best thing is how adored she is by her big siblings and I love how I don't worry about every little thing this time around.. You will be fine :-)

Congratulations Molotov, lovely news.

We have a 6, 3 and 2 year old. Ds was a surprise baby, but very welcome. As others have said it was easier in many ways, I had already done toddler plus baby before so knew how to juggle breastfeeding standing up using a sling whilst helping Dd2 on a climbing frame. Dd1 was older and able to provide entertainment for ds allowing dinner to be cooked relatively on time. Dd1 and 2 love ds, seeing them all running around playing and laughing with one another gives me such a warm, fuzzy feeling. Ds has always just fitted feeds and naps round school runs and playgroups. I was more relaxed about it all and he probably more jar food than the other two did, but it hasn't done him any harm.

The hardest thing I find is when they are all quite little and get ill at the same time.

Wow Molotov!! Congrats. When I first found out I was pregnant with dc3 I had a massive wobble but since then I've felt a lot better. It's natural to have doubts. I'm due in a couple of weeks so I will update you then. Good luck for an easy pregnanxy!

Thanks for all of your lovely messages Thanks

It's a relief to read that some felt the same way. The news is starting to sink in more and I'm feeling less Shock and more excited. I just can't believe it happened so fast!

Just wanted to add my congratulations too. Lovely news. Flowers

I'm the youngest of 3. My DB is 7 years older than me and my DS is 4 years older. The three of us growing up had our normal healthy spats but were ferociously loyal to each other and still are. Me being the youngest got away with loads Wink.

We are still very close now as adults (in our 30's & 40's) I love them to bits. Your #3 will be idolised by his/hers older siblings.

Congratulations. I'm another one with the same age gap. Mine are now 12, 8 and 4. However I'm in Scotland so mine weren't in school when the baby came along, but they were in pre school.

Three is brilliant. It really felt like my family was complete when DC3 came along. They can get along brilliantly but also fight terribly. Same as all siblings really.

DS1 in particular is very protective of his little sister. And she really brings out his caring side. He adores her, but he wouldn't show it to his friends, far too cool for that.

Congrats! I've just found out I'm expecting dC3 this morning. My eldest will be almost 4 and my youngest just 2 when this one arrives, but as it will be a section, they'll stay in childcare for the first couple of months to make my life a bit easier as limited family help.

Actually, I do a have question for the othe mums on here. Lots of my friends from the first time have just had their second and I'm hoping that a couple of mums from my second antenatal yoga class will potentially have their second around the same time, but how did you meet people with babies the third or more time around?

Congrats Molotov!!!
When I was trying for my third, you were deliberating about whether to do it or not. I don't come on here often anymore but I was browsing tonight and thrilled to see your post!
I can't tell you how amazing it's been for us to have our third in our lives. He slotted straight in and the other two totally adore him! He's over a year old now and walking so that makes it a little bit more difficult but it's brill!
I've had to be organised with fitting everything in, housework, homework, etc but if I'm organised then it's done. And I feel totally done. I'm really happy that's happened as I've never felt that before and I was worried I wouldn't ever feel it.
You'll be fab!! Xxx

Thanks for your lovely message biscuits, and congratulations to you on your ds Thanks

The shock has worn off now! I'm about 12w (hospital tomorrow for the dating scan and bloods!) and have got my head around, and very much looking forward to, the fact that there will be a new baby in around 6m time Smile Dds are so excited and are bonding with the baby already. My tummy is quite round already so not long until a proper bump appears, I think.

DH keeps joking about a dc4, but I feel quite strongly that this will be our last baby, and that is a good feeling, and reassures me that I would have always wondered about my dc3 had we not tried. I'm already planning to see the family planning nurse to discuss contraception for after the baby is born, and feel positive about that, too.

Congratulations Molotov!! I remember posting on your other thread not long after I'd had dc 3.

My dc are 7,4 and 18 months. I actually found it easier in the earlier days when dd2 was small and immobile, now she's on the move and is a rascal it's much trickier. I think I'd forgotten how much trouble a 1 year old can get into in 5 minutes!! But they all love each other so much, and dd2 gets so when the older 2 come home from school/nursery.

Practically we had to get a new car due to car seats not fitting in, we got a Ford Focus which is fab and has loads of room. We are in a 3 bed house, but due to dd1's disability we are looking to extend.

Hope the pregnancy is treating you well.
