I felt my family was complete after dc3, 4, 5 & now im pregnant with dc6.

There is a five & half years between dc5 & dc6...

I will be too old to conceive in another 5 years!

We have one DC, that's it for us. May get a dog when he's a bit older. One Bil has 5dc and we live in the same town, so no problems with only-loneliness.
Awful pregnancy, horrific birth two years later still having major problems - so I don't have that warm, hazy glow about doing it all again.

When dc3 was about 4 months (so about 2 months ago!). Woke up one day and decided family was complete and made an appointment to get the coil fitted. Love my children but 3 is my limit!

I felt ours was complete when DS was born DC2 but now I have a DC3 and it feels overgrown....

I would love a girl! I have two beautiful boys, but have been with my OH for 6 years and he's a bit older and has two previous alot older kids from his previous relationship, and really doesn't want any more -

But I just totally feel a long to have another, to be honest a little girl would be lovely, but I just want another one!!

(I'm so glad this site is slightly anonymous, he doesn't know this lol!)

I have 5dc and def don't feel my family is complete. To be really honest I'm not sure if I ever will feel my family is complete. At the moment I feel sure that a 6th DC will complete my family but if I have a 6th DC maybe I will still feel the longing for another child. I don't think you can ever really know until you get there, so to speak.

I didn't ever feel my family was complete. I have three DC and always wanted a fourth. The time has passed now and I don't think about it anymore, but I never felt 'finished'.

princesscupcakemummyb Fri 15-Nov-13 17:34:40

awhhh taffleee thats true i love mumsnet haha

princesscupcakemummyb Fri 15-Nov-13 17:40:40

intresting replies here

NAR4 really i feel the same as my family will be never complete but then i question myself when i should stop no matter what i feel its deff hard really to say for sure what il do in the future NAR4 are you going to go for number 6 dc?

princesscupcakemummyb Fri 15-Nov-13 17:45:34

thanks for the reply Bowlersarm ahh i see so i guess some of us never actually feel our family is complete

Bowlersarm Fri 15-Nov-13 18:45:33

princess I've bored people on here before grin but when I was pregnant with dc2 I knew I wanted dc3 and more. DH only wanted two children so after many arguments and a lot of angst he, at first reluctantly, then threw himself into trying for and ultimately welcoming dc3. It has worked well.

I would have gone on to have at least one more child, but not sure i would have wanted to stop there.

But it would have been unfair to put even more pressure on DH to have a dc4, although I really wanted another child. Dc3 was the-more-than-welcome compromise and, with three healthy DC, and a husband who resolutely didn't want any more DC it would have put too much pressure on the family.

I hankered after a dc4, but realised it wasn't a realistic proposition.

It took a loooong time for the instinct that 'someone" was missing to go though.

After DS (DC4) I don't think my body could cope with a 5th pregnancy.

taffleee Fri 15-Nov-13 19:48:22

princess lol, bless ya, true xxxx

taffleee Fri 15-Nov-13 19:53:05

sweet aww, yeah would prob feel that way is I was 4 in lol xx But as only have the two boys, just want that one more, would hope for a girl, but another boy would be great (tbh, if I did have another boy, would stop, lol) !

But seeing as though my OH being an arse at the mo, think I may have to wait for a possible divorce and to find a loving 'george clooney' lookalike to fill the potential 'dad' quota!!

Then my family complete lol!

NAR4 Sat 16-Nov-13 15:01:30

princess I would like to have dc6 but dh says he wants to wait and see (meaning he isn't keen at the moment). Dh also wants to start his own business so says it isn't a good idea right now due to Possible future financial difficulties. My reply to this is that one more child isn't going to make much difference, but he isn't convinced.

princesscupcakemummyb Wed 27-Nov-13 11:44:49

NAR4 i agree with you such a shame your dh isent convinced x

This has been on my mine recently too . I have an 8yo dd and ds has just turned one . When he was about 6 months I started thinking I wasn't done I would like another . But I just don't know how we would manage financially . I think if we are ok financially this time next year we will try again , if not I don't think we could have any more . If that happens I think I will be quite sadsad

comemulledwinewithmoi Fri 29-Nov-13 21:53:44

WhoYaGonnaCall Fri 29-Nov-13 22:06:05

After DC4 was born.

Now 9 weeks pregnant with DC5. Not planned at all; contraceptive failure. But I'm sure this determined little being will be as loved as the other 4.
