New Born gifts for baby no.4?

A good friend is about to have her 4th baby. She already has abundant boy and girl clothes and a house full of toys. Any suggestions what other type of gift might be appreciated? I was thinking maybe something more personalised for the baby that is practical too???

MNers of large families what sort of new born gifts would you like to receive?

Ask. I think by baby No 4, some of the stuff will be worn out or stained terribly. New muslins/bibs/receiving blankets - you can never have enough!

ALternatvely, an offer of babysitting for an evening for all 4 of the blighters would be a welcome gift.

When I asked she said not clothes or toys! Previously the grandparents had been very generous trying to out do each other so she has clothes that have never been worn.

I would love to babysit... but unfortunately we live in different countries.

I've just had dd4. I am seriously scared of receiving toys and clothes. We have got it all! So much of it is unworn also, because of seasons/babies sizes being different to expected. I've had lovely Mum presents though: flaxseed, 'reviving' fragrance (that big dd's try to wear!). Also, I've asked people not to buy us gifts but to donate money to SANDS in memory of our first dd who was stillborn 6 years ago. I would still hope that mil makes the quilt that she's made for all the other dds and that sentimental gifts, such as the lovely rag dolls etc that she gets the girls when they are born. I must confess, I don't really use my muslins and blankets, so I hope not to get any of these. A stock of frozen dinners may be nice. My next-door neighbour did that for me this time around!

I got my friend pampers (3 boxes of 200+) and 5 boxes of wipes from costco.

I sent my friend a rose - her DD was called rose!

Think as pps have said about something for the mum, a hamper, spa vouchers, etc

When expecting 4th and 5th I wept at the sacks of clothes that people had left in the hallway - I didn't physically have the strength to go through them. Clothing 'sets' also gave me the heebie jeebies - imagining the synchronised laundering. The best gifts I remember were offers to babysit, time spent playing and chatting to the older ones, takeaways, nice photos taken and emailed to me.

When I had no4 my favourite gifts for the baby were organic baby toiletries. I already had far too much of everything else !!!!!!! Toiletries were practical and it was nice to use a luxury product as a change from the less expensive ones I would usually throw into supermarket trolley ..... Now when people ask what I would like for his first Christmas or birthday I will definitely be asking for Eco friendly organic baby shampoos etc....anything else would be wasteful or not used or re gifted which is a shame

How about a money box? DC3 is 8 months old and I'd love a money box for her. Baby massage oil might be nice too. I think a nice photo of the baby in a frame would also be a lovely gift.

I don't have a large family but I have to say the best gift we received were meals! Made life so much easier and we were able to enjoy baby time more

Money for a savings account would be nice. I am expecting number 5 and agree baby clothes or toys make me want to cry. Just not enough room in the house. Depending whether you know what she likes, some pampering smellies for her. Maybe a special christmas tree decoration that is personalised to the baby.

Depending how well you know them... I gave a friend who was having her fourth a benefit concealer make up set. I was a bit worried how it would go down, but it was well received.

Maybe like a voucher for somewhere like boots so she can stock up on nappies/wipes/toiletries when needed?
Bibs and basic vests I agree are needed new with each baby! I chucked out all my vests from my DD1 as they were just stained and are relatively cheap to buy again. Also maybe buy stuff in bigger sizes if you get clothes as yeah a lot of newborn first size clothes get wasted! Lovely you want to get her something thoughtful though! A personalised money box or plaque for their room would be cute too x
