Family tickets - your experiences?

So, we recently became a family of 5 (DD2 is 5 months) and I rang up today to ask about a family ticket for a concert. 2 adults, 3 kids but obviously the baby will be sitting on someone's knee.

They told me a family ticket is for 4 people max. (2 adults and 2 kids or 1 adult and 3 kids) and that the baby had to have a ticket because everyone in the venue had to be accounted for. This means paying for full price child's ticket just so the baby can sit on my knee. (I can understand there's a reason for knowing how many people are in the hall).

I know the definition of 'family' as 2+2 at venues and days out is a bugbear for larger families, but has anyone had any success in getting them to change their rules?

Thanks, Loopy. If DD2 was a quiet baby we could smuggle her in a holdall. Wink

Just bought my Dad NT membership so good to know they've got no excuse not to have all 3 kids for a few trips in the summer.

Loopymumsy, I didn't know that about NT, that's fab.

There's a great day out in Central Scotland, Almond Valley and the very reasonably priced family ticket is up to 4 kids.

The being charged for babies at a concert thing is annoying whatever size the family. I tried to take just my youngest to see a show with me and my sister when she was teeny but I was going to be charged full price for her, no way!!
