I think this kind of message is going to become a common occurence from me throughout the new school year.

DS has brought a poem home to memorise but of course he's got to understand it too. So we've just been going through it and we're stuck on the following:

Un peu raplapla,
Toilette de chat

We've both got the literal translation and I'm guessing it's a French phrase for something like a good wash. Would this be right?

un peu raplapla = a bit lifeless

toilette de chate = a quick wash

de chat

Merci - OK stuck on this one now!

Cheveux en petard
un peu dans le brouillard

On file comme l'eclair

Would be very grateful again.

There aren't any more after this - but at least we'll both understand what we're learning.

cheveux en pétard = hair sticking up

un peu dans le brouillard = in a bit of a fog

on file comme l'éclair = we leave as quickly as lightening

Cheveux en petard - hair all messy/bed hair

Un peu dans le brouillard - in the fog

Thank you so much! We had the dictionary out but weren't quite getting it all to gel.

Now he can not only recite it but understand it.

See you next week for next week's homework grin
