So DD will start English school in Sept. She speaks it well enough, although her primary language is mine. I suppose with living in England, I should concentrate all reading and writing efforts in English so she doesnt fall behind in school.

However, I would also like her to read books in native tongue (German) but am not sure how to go about it. Obviously, in English they use the phonic system and they will blend the words from there. So how would it work in German?

The Jolly Phonics method has actually been translated into French. Does it exist in German yet? if not, could you adapt it yourself?

you can use Jolly Phonics for German too. The letters are the same.only ee ,ie etc are different.A-Z have the same sound.I´m a native German speaker and was happy to find out that the letter sounds are the same.My Sons school ( in Germany)uses also the phonic system.
