Are Short term investments any good?

I have managed to save a deposit for a house but cannot see anything suitable at the monent. I was wondering if it is possible to invest this money somewhere rather than sticking it in an ISA? It would be a short term investment for 6 months. Do such investments exist?

Best bet is an instant ISA at the best rate in case anything crops up quickly

Depending on size, money market deposits can be OK. To be honest no short term stuff exists any more as returns are too low to give institutions enough room for profit

Investing in the stock market is not recommended for such a short period. Do you have a lifetime ISA? The government adds 25% and you can use it to buy a property if you're a first time buyer I believe (this replaced the help to buy isa).
