2nd appointment at fertility clinic

Hi all,

Hope you’re all well and your clinics are reopening.

We have our 2nd appointment (via Skype) next month.
Since our 1st appointment I have had a transvaginal scan and my husband has his SA results.

His SA was above average and my scan revealed 5 follicles on one ovary and 8 on the other. I’m 31.

Do any of you know what to expect at the 2nd appointment?

Have any of you been in similar situations? What was your plan of action? I know everyone is different but we really have no clue about any of this.

Thanks 😊

Att my second appointment they came up with a plan for treatment (clomid). For some people, they will order more tests... unfortunately it's pretty individual depending on the clinic and your tests and results so far...

My second appointment was actually for a HyCoSy but during my first appointment they did tell me that IVF was likely what they'd suggest for us.
Did the HyCoSy and then lockdown happened soon after. We were due to go back 28th April for a follow up appointment to confirm my partner stopped smoking

Had that appointment recently via video call and it was essentially just them saying the next step would be IVF and they were putting us on the waiting list from then.

Thanks so much for both your replies, I know everyone is so different and clinics vary.

What’s your “issue” with fertility if you don’t mind me asking?
I hope your wait for ivf isn’t too long @willithappen again, I have no clue how long these things take. X

We're down as unexplained but my partners SA came back at 1% morphology so I have a feeling that's maybe an issue but the clinic don't see it as one

I've been told we're usually looking at 6 month wait but with the lockdown putting a hold to things that's adding another 4 months so 10 month wait for us starting now. We first went to the GP back in October so long wait for everything

Gosh that’s rubbish that lockdown has added an extra 4 months on!
At least you have a rough idea of timings and the plan is set. Best of luck!
That’s what I’m hoping for next month, a good plan ha x

We were unexplained. Still are. But ivf worked. Ttc two and a half years before ivf. Two chemicals in the first 12 months. VERY few tests run. No tubal patency tests, for example (but the chemicals suggest at least one tube ok). Only the most basic of bloods and sa for us. They didn't really look into what the problem was as they figured ivf was the solution to whatever our issue was. Started ttc at 32, ivf at 34.

It was successful and I now have a one year old.

@physicskate thanks for replying.
I’ve had three lots of bloods and a transvaginal scan. Husband has had one lot of SA.
Never had a BFP in the time we’ve been ttc.
I’m just really hoping that they have a lovely plan in place when we speak to them, I think that’s what I need. I love a plan and I think it will help me mentally as everything is in limbo currently. I don’t even know if it’s possible for me to get pregnant naturally or if my chances are slim or normal.

I’m so pleased to hear that your ivf worked and you have your loved little one x
