Hi

Couldn't see a thread for May/June - hoping that I'm not on my own for this cycle as its our 2nd cycle and feeling worried that I won't get to transfer.

Would be great to share the ups and downs with others, I'm starting buserelin next Wednesday (27th May).

I'll join 🤣 I should be starting 5th and final egg collection next week with a fresh transfer (this is cycle 3 of a 3 cycle package so we have 4 embryos frozen from the first 2 cycles)

This will be our 4 th transfer after 2 BFN transfers last year and a BFP ending In ruptured ectopic

I'm with Create x

Hi we should be starting second week in June, this is also our second round. How did it go last time for you?

@ivfgottostaypositive - love the name! I'm only about to start my 2nd EC cycle and hopefully fresh transfer so you are a trooper for getting to the 5th one!
Sorry to read about your losses, its always such a terrible day when it hasn't worked.

@Rd12 - hey! 1st transfer didnt take, 2nd did but had an early loss, 3rd didn't thaw as expected so didn't take.
Yourself?

@takingthistooseriously - honestly the thought of injecting is worse than the injecting bit, if you are worried you can numb the area with ice - I didn't bother with any of my many injections but others do.
Do feel free to speak openly, as I find it helps plus personally I go a bit bonkers on all the drugs!

@mrbay had our one NHS round and got lots of eggs but hardly any useable sperm. So only 3 fertilised and with one good quality and one poor they transferred 2 on day 3 unsucessfully. Now for the expensive round :( bad luck for yourself too by the sound of it.

I'm excited to join. I'll be starting my meds next week. This will be my fourth cycle, keeping my fingers and toes crossed. I have a low AMH and my egg quality has not been good on my previous cycles. So I've upped my supplements and hoping for more success this time.

HJF84 · 20/05/2020 20:38

@takingthistooseriously It gets easier. It's nerve wracking to start. I decided to watch a medical drama to get me used to the needles - and it worked! That and allowing myself a little treat afterwards

Thanks @Mrbay and @HJF84 first injection down! It took me a bit of time to work up the courage mind Grin

Sorry to hear that everyone has had to get used to all of this over multiple cycles, I am certainly under no illusions now that TTC is a marathon not a sprint!

@rd12 - sorry to read that, it's just hard and funding is such a postcode lottery. Fingers crossed it is positive for you this time.
If you do have low amount of sperm, are you going for ICIS this time?

Hi @HJF84, sorry to hear it's your 4th cycle, it's so hard emotionally and physically. I've got a low AMH and male factor but apparently good when mixed together but still didn't work so who knows!

DH and I have all been about the supplements this time, that reminds me I need to buy some more and get some low cal protein too!

@takingthistooseriously - well done! Was it better than you thought it was going to be? You never know, you could get the ultimate prize first time around.

Can I join too please - will also be starting my 4th EC cycle in June. Had 2 chemicals from previous cycles This one is natural modified and freeze all due to very low AMH. My best cycle was with folic acid and vit D only so this time I've decided to strip back the supplements and see what happens (having previously tried proceive max, ubiquinol and DHEA).

I recognise a few names on thr thread! Good luck all! Good luck with the first injection @takingthistooseriously!

Morning all - I've Started spotting today which is about 4 days early in my cycle so I think cycle day 1 will be Saturday - clinic confirmed protocol again this morning so looks like I'm good to go 😬

Bit anxious as the last time my cycle started this early we had to abandon the IVF because I wasn't responding and ended up with a 40 day cycle compared to 29

takingthistooseriously · 21/05/2020 10:55

@ivfgottostaypositive Good luck for this time, hopefully the early cycle and not responding were not connected and you have better results this time

thanks @Wesstywoo and @Mrbay, it was ok but not looking forward to doing it every day for goodness knows how many cycles!

@Mrbay what low cal protein are you planning on? I have upped protein generally and am sitting at my desk with a bag of almonds but I just sort of guessed at what I should be eating!

Mrbay · 21/05/2020 11:40

sure thing @Wesstywoo - lets hope this time is your time :)
I've been taking vit D for months as it seems to be the missing link in fertility and it is so cheap compared to all the others drugs/supplements that are marketed to help!

@ivfgottostaypositive - what protocol are you doing? Let's hope it's textbook for you this time.

@takingthistooseriously - it does get easier, tho the only one I didn't enjoy was lubion - a little stingy!
I've not managed to research yet but apparently it can help with the development of the eggs but I need to find my notes! That is the only dietary change I'm making, well that and no coffee when I'm stimming and if I get to transfer

@Mrbay

I am doing natural modified - this is my 3rd cycle of this protocol (part of a package) so I start injections cycle day 4 - very low dose and every other day minimum (maybe daily depending on progress) and then I usually have egg collection around cycle day 13 and then I'll finally get to transfer 5 days later - so the whole thing is over very quick for me 🤣

@ivfgottostaypositive - wow that is quick and bet its nice not to have lots and lots of drugs! Does that mean you only get the one egg?

@Mrbay

Actually no - the first cycle I got 2 eggs both fertilised and both are frozen as top quality blastocysts and the second cycle I got 7 and also have 2 top quality blastocysts frozen.

(Last year I was doing short protocol and getting 14 eggs but my fertilisation rate even with ICSI was less than 30% and only getting 2 average quality blastocysts per cycle)

Doing a more natural protocol has increased my fertilisation to 100%

I just don't think my body is able to produce more than 2 blastocysts per cycle so we've concentrated on improving quality by reducing the drugs and it's really paid off for us x

Managed to make myself bleed and give myself a bruise with my second injection Sad I have much to learn about getting this right I think! How is everyone doing today?

Mrbay · 22/05/2020 11:43

Hi @MrsLouB - of course you can :)
Good luck!

@ivfgottostaypositive - that's interesting - I wasn't allowed natural as it doesn't look like my cycle is certain enough.

@takingthistooseriously - oh thats not your fault, you just hit a capillary, its so easy to do that. Last time, I looked like a pin cushion!

I'm just looking forward to a 4-day weekend - you?

@Mrbay

It's definitely a gamble but it's paid off so far - we came to the conclusion why pay more money to get the same number of blastocysts as natural modified which is probably 30% cheaper and our quality has massively improved (I didn't get any grade 1 embryos on day 3 with my short protocol IVF) with natural modified they have all been grade 1.

My doctor said most women just aren't designed to get more than 2 blastocysts per cycle so why push my body to go the speed of a Ferrari when it's clearly more like a Ford Focus (thankfully I didn't take offence at that comparison and I get on really well with my doctor!)

Hi all, can I join? Currently on day 7 of Stims for my second cycle. Male factor infertility but I respond really poorly to Stims for some reason.

Looking like 5 decent follicles this time round. Last time I got 5 eggs all mature and all fertilised. But they all started to drop off around day 3 and ended up putting back a morula.

Moved from long to short protocol this time and doubled my meds. Not feeling too bad just downheartened at lack of response. Might be an afternoon for Disney plus in bed!!!

I was on this board before with my last cycle but I’ve name changed!

Wishing everyone the best of luck!!!! Are you all working from home due to covid? It’s good not having to go into the office with all the stress and bloating.

@MrsLouB We have indeed! We're cycle buddies for sure. Let's hope this cycle is the one for both of us 🤞🏼

I'm so sorry that your last cycle didn't work out. I stopped commenting in the group after my BFN but it was so lovely to see all the BFPs in the group. It felt like a lucky thread for a lot of people. Let's hope we bring some of that luck over to this thread

@mrbay When I did my first cycle I had no idea how people in the forum were going through their third, fourth and fifth times! But here I am! It's tough, and I'm not going to lie, there have been some really dark times but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

@HJF84

Ain't that the truth - we said 3 cycles maximum and not more than the £25k we remortgaged for......somehow we are now at our 5th cycle and £35k - this is definitely the last one though - I'm ready to stop. I don't know if it's easier because my DD is getting older and so actually going back to having a newborn is a strange idea
