3 dominant follicles :(

I’m CD9 if my first round of IVF. Had a scan today and I’ve got 3 dominant follicles and around 20 smaller ones. The nurse didn’t sound positive at all. She said we will keep going and see what a scan shows Monday.

Is there any chance some of the smaller ones could catch up? During ovulation induction the smaller ones never did. So I don’t have much hope.

Will they even bother going ahead with only 3 follicles? I feel like I’m out before we’ve even begun :(

I had a cycle like that except I only had 2 but decided to continue to egg collection and actually that round had my vest fertilisation rate (100%) and both top quality blastocysts which are currently frozen

Thanks @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted. I’m trying so hard to feel positive but I’m absolutely devastated. This is the first time it’s all hit me how crap this situation is.

Have they said they'll change your medication? I had another cycle where had lots of small ones and a couple of bugs ones and they added in Luveris and that helped the small ones grow x

No, she really sounded very negative about the whole cycle. She said to just keep going with the current dose and we will see Monday.

I know it’s ridiculous but I feel like there’s no point continuing at this stage

Is this an NHS cycle - sometimes they state they'll only go to egg collection if 3 or more?

I was happy to Continue with just 2 follicles as even when we were getting 14 eggs last year fertilisation rates were awful and I'd only get 2 average blastocysts so we changed to natural modified cycles on very low dose drugs so knew in advance our follicle numbers would be much lower but actually the quality is significantly higher x

I’m actually in Australia, but it’s public, not private, so it’s mostly funded by Medicare. So I’m pretty sure they will cancel if it’s not looking good on Monday. I do think since it’s our first cycle i would prefer to go ahead and see what happens. I have no idea what the quality of my eggs are like yet!
