Hello, i’m hoping there is someone on here who can help me. Currently on holiday in North Cyprus just outside Famagusta, there has been a confirmed case of Coronavirus in our hotel and the whole place is now on lockdown until 23rd March.

We were due to return to uk this Saturday and I was due to start taking progynova Monday 16th for my donor egg cycle. Of course i didn’t bring the medication with me as I thought I’d be home. Trying to arrange for meds to be delivered to me but if that fails can anyone give me details of an ivf clinic in north Cyprus who I could get my clinic to fax a prescription to.

Many thanks xx

@Spongebob79 Hi - Unfortunately, I can't help you with your question, but I read your message and literally shouted out; Oh my God! And I felt bad if I'd 'read and run'

I really hope someone hops on here soon to help you and that this can be worked out.

Best wishes and best of luck x

Oh Sponge what a palaver!

A few things to consider, not very helpful as in not solutions but here goes:
Can you get it without a prescription there?
If not there are mumsnetters who've had IVF in Cyprus.

I know it's not what you want to hear but most of the isolation periods seem to be 2 weeks - would that still give you time or is it worth talking to your clinic.
Where is your actual treatment, and is there any known risk to the donor situation, ie could she also be in a lockdown situation.

Lots of sympathy from me, I'm supposed to be going abroad for egg collection in the next few days and not sure what will happen.

@NRW39 and @JeNeBaguetteRien thank you both for replying. My donor is due to have her egg collection on 30th March, it’s in uk so as far as I know she is fine. we’ve been quarantined now since Sunday so the 14 days takes us to 22nd March and then we need to get home. It’s been a nightmare but if we can get home shortly after the quarantine ends there should be enough time.

We had to put in a request for any medication at reception earlier this week and we had a call to our room this afternoon saying it should arrive tomorrow so fingers crossed I can get what I need. If not my next plan was to try a clinic over here as I know there are a few.

Because it’s a donor cycle it’s not only me involved buy my donor too, so much stress we didn’t need.

What a stress, especially with the donor element.
Have everything crossed that your medication arrives tomorrow and that the rest goes smoothly.

I'm going to Madrid. Schools and universities are closed and leave has been cancelled for public hospital staff, Real Madrid team are quarantined, the King and Queen are being tested... So not sure if there will be any issues with the clinic staff or if I'll be quarantined over there, will decide depending on travel advice and a bit of gut feeling I guess!
The plan is to have a FET so I literally want to get eggs collected then get back to the UK.

@JeNeBaguetteRien my fingers are crossed for you, I hope you get out for egg collection of it’s such a waste of time, money and medication let alone the disappointment.

I’ve emailed my clinic this morning to let them know the situation so they can decide what the best course of action is.

@Spongebob79 how's it going out there? Did you get your meds?

I can't go to Madrid but may be able to have egg collection in an affiliated clinic elsewhere. Just keeping an eye on the news and weighing up options and keeping in touch with the clinic. I feel so sorry for the staff and everyone affected.

Hope the meds arrived!

Sadly they misunderstood my request, probably due to my age as progynova in any other circumstance is used as hrt. They bought me a similar contraceptive instead! So I had to explain why I needed it and now they understand and have promised to get it to me for Monday. I really hope it comes in time. I loved trying to explain the ivf donor egg process to a non English speaking pharmacist in a line with others behind me!!

And after all that my clinic have just been in contact to advise all new cycles are now postponed until further notice. I’m actual pleased as it means we can get home safely and start again when everything is a bit calmer.
