Cyclogest pessaries

Hey!,

i has my egg collection yesterday and started cyclogest pessaries last night. i just wondered if any one knows how long they take to absorb?

I have to take one at night and one in the morning, the night one is fine as obviously i'm lying down all night but i just wondered if any one knows how long after putting the pessary in it is okay to go to the toilet? 🤦‍♀️Not nice i know!

Thanks for your help!
Laura xx

I’ve never been given specifics really but I think I read so long as you lie down for at least 10 mins that should be sufficient. Obv it’s not always possible but so long as you do that for the majority, a bit longer if poss . That’s what I’ve been doing anyway.
Also, I was never told that they should be more or less 12 hours apart,l which made me wonder if it had a bearing on my last failed round. Probably not but you never know (as I was doing mine e.g. 6.30 am and 10.30 pm)

I find it easier to take these rectally. There is less spillage.....but I generally try to wait at least an hour before going to the toilet

Thanks for all your help @Badgerismyname and @london2cardiff i did lie down for 30 mins after this morning so hopefully it’s all okay. Also, i didn’t know they were meant to be 12 hours apart either, i was just told to take one at night and one in the morning so thanks for letting me know, I’ll be more careful with the timings now! xx

Hi there, I am on these and I specifically asked at my embryo transfer and she said they it didn’t matter if it was vaginally or rectally but I have been doing mine vaginally for the most part. Also 20-30 minutes to lie down was advised which I’ve been religiously sticking to. I take mine at around 7am and 10pm and so far so good, I am 5+5 today.

Congratulations! @justkeeprunning5 and thanks for your help! How many rounds of IVF have you done if you don't mind me asking? My ec was yesterday and 10 eggs were collected, 9 mature and 6 have fertilised with ICSI, it's all so nerve wracking! xx

Hi @LauraC1984. That’s a great number!

Thank you, still doesn’t seem real and it’s so odd that I’ve told more people on here than in real life so far!

We had one egg collection and then ICSI. The fresh transfer failed but luckily we got a positive on our first FET. Have 4 in the freezer.

Wishing you all the best for the rest of your wait until transfer day and the transfer itself. Xx

Yes for all rounds I had 5 till a successful one - I was told 12hrs diff. Didn’t matter what 12hrs hours - but I chose 7am and 7pm

Think takes about 10mins to get into system and yes gravity will expel some

I did find up the bum held better - if that’s the right word. And less mess

I think you’ve had your answer, but I also kept mine in 30 mins (I did vaginally) and it worked for me - I’m 34 weeks pregnant. Good luck! It’s a rough rollercoaster, so hang in there and stay strong :D

Hi @LauraC1984, I think they absorb pretty quickly, in about 20 minutes. I've been using them rectally and found it pretty much fine, I did try the other way for one day but it gave me really bad stomach cramps and was messy. I was using them twice a day until I had some spotting 7dp5dt which really freaked me out so the clinic told me to increase them to 3 a day. I thought it was game over but two days ago I got my first ever BFP after TTC for 6 years!!! I wish you the very best of luck for your cycle. x

Hey everyone. I have taken letrozole and had a trigger shot on day 12. I was also given cyclogest for afterwards. Does anyone know what day I have to start taking the cyclogest?

Hi Rac3693

I think it would be best to check with your clinic. If having an egg collection the cyclogest is started that day, because the body won't naturally be producing any because the follicles have been emptied (I think) but if you have ovulated naturally you should be making your own progesterone so I think it might be different. Sorry that's not helpful!

My clinic suggested 15 min but advised to lie down (or sit down) for at least 30 min after insertion.
