When should test get darker.

Hi.
I had a FET on wednesday 4th following a fresh cycle that didnt take.
I tested yesterday 5dp5dt at around 3pm and got a positive. When I tested this morning 6dp5dt with fmu I expected to see a darker line but it's actually the same if not a bit fainter (I cant tell for sure as yesterdays had dried so darker than it was)
Do you think I should be preparing for a chemical? Or is it normal not to get darker at this stage? Should I phone the clinic or just ride it out until its otd on friday when I go in for bloods?
Any words of wisdom much appreciated.

I've attached a photo for reference.
Top one is yesterday at 3pm no hold.
Bottom one this morning with fmu (although I was up in the night to go)
As you can I tell I might be slightly over analysing. 🥴

Pregnancy tests don’t really work like that. They’re positive or they are not. There are too many variables which change the line, both in the concentration of your urine but also in the chemicals of the test themselves.

If it’s positive then you’re pregnant. Try to stop the repeated testing. You will learn nothing and it’s the way that madness lies Flowers

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I don’t know from personal experience but I’ve seen people on here saying that no line progression can result in a chemical pregnancy. Fingers crossed for you @Hopefully84 Flowers

Thanks for the messages.
This mornings one looks a little darker to match yesterdays now that its dried. I think I'm just in panic mode as I'm so sure it's not going to work.
I'll wait until the blood test on friday and hope for the best. It's a bloody rollercoaster!!

Wouldn’t worry too much about it your tests are definatly positive and looked like mine at 5 days past. Plus it takes 2 days for hcg to double. I tested everyday since day 5 and they got a bit darker. I’m now 6w4d. Congratulations 🥳

Yeah, line progression isn't the be-all end-all but it is an indication. But you can't really see anything with only two tests. HCG is supposed to double every two days but the amounts are fairly low in the beginning and it'll take a few days to see any real progression.

You can keep testing every day but try to test at the same time everyday (preferably with fmu). And don't expect to see any progression before at least 4-5 days !

Thanks everyone.
Showed up positive on a digital this afternoon but have been wiping brown a little when going for a wee- similar to the start of my period.
I guess I will just have to wait and see either if period shows up or what my beta numbers are on friday.

I have to disagree with @PotteringAlong too - in 8 pregnancies - 7 non viable lack of line progression/strange progression has always been a precursor to losing the pregnancy either ectopic or miscarriage

That being said some people's FMU just isn't as strong for hcg as testing later in the day - something about protein in the urine metabolising the hcg hormone when it's been sat in it all night.

I'd try and compare tests taken at similar times of day x

Morning all. Little update with this mornings test. So top is 5dp5dt then 6 days and finally today's wich is 7dp5dt.
Although it's not as dark as I would like. I'm pretty sure there is some progression there.
I'm cautiously hopeful.
Thanks for all your words of wisdom and fingers crossed for good beta on Friday.

Early testing does usually mean faint lines, however those tests are progressing nicely. It’s too early to panic about faint lines - I’m talking from experience good and bad.

I had the brown and reddish bleeding and all was fine.

Good luck.

Blood test today gave a beta of 279 at 9dpt and the clinic seemed happy with that. So cautiously excited. Booked in for a scan in a couple of weeks.
Thanks to you all for the advice, helped keep me half sane in the wait.

Evening all. Trying to find a thread to jump on.
I think I see a few names from previous posts.
Today I am 4+5 according to calculator after 5 rounds of IVF, no real symptoms. Would be really good to chat to a few people

Hi @41trying. Congratulations to you that's great news. How do you feel? Will you have an early scan? I'm 9 weeks in a couple of days and waiting for a booking appointment from the midwife. So pleased for you.
