Ectopic

Hi all,
I've had 1 cycle of IVF on the NHS where I had ovarian hyperstimulation. This resulted in 7 embryos being frozen. We had 3 BFNs, 3 chemical pregnancies and one ovarian ectopic.
I have just started my second cycle privately. We have 12 embryos from this. Again I had hyperstimulation and all needed to be frozen.
I have had a positive pregnancy test 10 days ago which was very dark. I tested again 2 days ago and again it was a very dark line and the clear blue digital said 3 weeks + which should mean the Hcg is over 2300.

I am sooooo worried that it will be ectopic again! I don't have any bleeding or any pain. I have had some twinges in the right pelvic area and sometimes when I stand up it feels like there's a pressure on that side, but I wouldn't describe it as pain!

With my last ectopic the positive test was quite faint and the hcg didn't get above 1000. But it ruptured and I needed emergency surgery due to internal bleeding - this was only a week after the positive pregnancy test!

I am having a scan on Tuesday so will know then! But I was hoping for some reassurance!

Hi, the fact your tests are dark and clear blue is stating the correct number of weeks are very good signs. This was the case for me also, which I took solace in and put my mind at rest a bit (I had light bleeding so suspected ectopic - good that you don’t though). I have not had an ectopic but also had some one sided uncomfortable feelings plus shoulder tip discomfort. I think it was mainly psychosomatic. Which could be to some extent the case with you too considering your experience. Really hope this one is in the right place for you, and as I said the strong hcg is a really good indicator that this is likely to be the case x

Yeah just to add the feeling I had was a pressure like sensation on the same side I ovulated from and kind of slightly higher than where ovaries are, if that makes sense. Lasted a couple days. All the best for Tuesday! X

Hmm more likely to be twins than ectopic - IVF embryos are more likely to split, you could be looking at identical twins!Shock

I would monitor the pain - you are obviously familiar with ectopic pain - it doesn't feel the same as miscarriage pain or implantation pain. Both my ectopics were live (had heartbeats) so my hcg was textbook for a viable pregnancy but ended in ectopics anyway. One of them was an IVF transfer. If you are concerned go for a scan earlier as if your getting a 3+ on Clearblue then your hcg is high enough to see a sac

(Actually Given you've had one ectopic before it's more likely to be ectopic than twins as your odds increase especially with IVF)

Thanks for your advice.
I had the scan on Tuesday and it was ok - not ectopic and they saw a heart beat, so I will keep my fingers crossed
