Between Egg Collection & Embryo Transfer - what restrictions?

Hi all
It looks like my birthday will fall between egg collection and embryo transfer - wondering if I can go for a spa day/dinner and drinks or am I not supposed to go into a pool and can I drink alcohol? Does anyone know what the restrictions are in advance of embryo transfer?

I wouldn't go in to a pool / bath / hot tub because of risk of infection - your clinic will probably tell you not to anyway, mine did.

You will be fine having a drink or two but I personally wouldn't have more than that - if the IVF didn't work I wouldn't want to wonder whether having that drink tipped the scales - like maybe it upset the pH / microbiome / whatever in my uterus. Paranoid I know, but after all of the expense and effort it doesn't seem worth risking anything.

Nothing!

I was never given any restrictions. Any alcohol will be well out of your system before the transfer. And anyway even though it wasn’t the embryo doesn’t rely on you for survival immediately after transfer.

I have had treatment at 3 different clinics and have never been advised to avoid baths/hot tubs/swimming either after egg collection or after the transfer.

I don’t think there is any good evidence any of this makes any difference at all to outcome, so if it were me, I’d enjoy my birthday doing whatever i fancied.

I’ve been told not to swim because of the risk of infection, I would say this probably goes for jacuzzis too!

I also saw hot baths and hot water bottle usage were not recommended but I can’t remember if this was pre or post transfer...
