Hi all
This is my first post so hello and appreciate your help :)
I am 27 and have been given a reading of 8.2 pmol/l which is in the bottom 10 percentile. How does this affect my chances of naturally conceiving and IVF? I am despairing and unsure if anyone has had a similar experience? Thank you!

I should add I was planning on trying for kids around 29.

What's stopping you from starting now?

All it means is that you might not respond as well as could be expected to ivf stimulation drugs. You might get fewer eggs than average.

It says nothing about the quality of your eggs - the best indicator of that is your age, which is very much on your side.

Low(ish) amh does not mean you can't get pregnant naturally, providing no other issues.

The best test of fertility is trying to conceive.

Good luck.

Did you have any other tests or just amh? My amh was on the low side at 9.2 but the rest of my tests were all good so I was told that my amh on it’s own was not the reason why we hadn’t conceived naturally in 2 years ttc. What they also couldn’t tell me was whether it was stable or falling so we couldn’t really work our whether we were short of time or not.

In terms of ivf, they would use a protocol more suited to low amh. Often it’s a milder form to focus on getting a few good quality eggs instead of 20+. In my case it was short protocol. I ended up with 4 blasts and I’m currently 19 weeks pregnant.

I think it’s best speaking with a specialist to get their advice. But please please don’t despair, you definitely have options.

Mine was 11.68 in April last year and I was devastated as thought it was really low. My consultant said it’s slightly low for my age (30) but nothing to be overly concerned about. Our first ivf we got 14 eggs, 9 mature. Don’t worry!! Just takes one good egg :)

I had a Transvaginal scan done - no PCOS but that’s it. . Did you have any other tests done what were they? And were they useful?

Also congrats on the treatment! How old were you and was that 4 rounds of ivf?

I had my afc and fsh checked. DH also had sperm analysis. I was 35 which is why we decided to go straight to ivf. We got all 4 from one cycle. I know we were so very very fortunate but I thought my amh was the end of the world and it wasn’t.

We had ivf last year in October and my AMH was 6. I’m 29. Originally for MFI

We got 4 embryos and two blasts; not top quality but good enough to implant.
Unfortunately it wasn’t successful.

We are aiming for our next go in July. As o wasn’t taking any vitamins etc so have changed quite a lot in regards to eating; exercising and vitamins
