Hi all,
Hope I’m posting in the right section. Happy to get my post moved if not.
I’m 33 years old and very aware of my biological clock, would really love a baby but things just aren’t quite right for that at the moment, mused and partner both phone down some debts and don’t yet live together. We’ve been together 18 months and he has said we can try for a baby once we’ve bought a house.
I’m an over thinker and have been catastrophising all possible scenarios and trying to plan for them. I’m also the highest earner, I earn double what he does so will need to make sure we can afford for me to take a decent amount of maternity leave as my employer doesn’t give any enhanced leave, just SMP.
We did agree back in December that I could stop taking my pill which was making my skin absolutely terrible and I’d had gradually declining mood since starting it at the end of 2018. We said we’d use the withdrawal “method” and deal with any mishaps with the MAP. I was having regular periods when I started the pill and these continued throughout taking it. For my pay 67 days on the pill I bled continually. This stopped within a couple of days of taking my last one. I have had a period since taking my last pill Dec 15th. Not currently pregnant, Have done a test.
So as part of my background planning/catastrophising I decided to do one of those online AMH tests where you prick your finger with a lancet and send of some dry blood spots to a lab. I just wanted to be reassured that I was within normal limits and that we had time and I didn’t have a fertility emergency on my hands or anything.
I got the results back this morning and it’s 6.0 pmol/L which the companies diagram says is very low for my age of 33.
Can anyone give any insight or personal anecdotes?
I don’t know if I should book in somewhere face to face to get it redone with the antral follicle scan too.
I did have reservations about the professionalism of the company Fertility Connected as the dry blood spot card was out of date and some of the grammar and things in their emails had been a bit off.
FWIW, I have been pregnant in the past, but I was too young and not in any position to be a mother to anyone so I had a termination, so I know I can get pregnant.
If anyone can offer any advice I’d be so grateful.
Thank you.
