Cervical stenosis

Hi all
New to mumsnet and hope this is in the right page.
I've been trying to get pregnant for over 6 years and last year I had the HSG procedure but the doctor found my cervix very narrow, couldn't get the catheter in and when he finally did, I passed out and he couldn't complete the procedure.
2 days later I fell pregnant, but miscarried at 10 weeks.
I then had to have my cervix dilated 3 times (fainted each time) but every time the doctor has said there's no way this was stopping me from getting pregnant as if I've been having normal periods then sperm can get in through the cervix.
But my periods have never been "normal". I thought there were but actually I've always bled very dark brown bloody for a few days, never fresh red blood but thought this was normal.
Until my miscarriage and then I feel like they have been normal and had no period pain.
Does anyone else suffer from stenosis of the cervix and if so what has been done about it?

@Lousarah1982 - I was diagnosed with cervical stenosis following an unsuccessful FET attempt. We leapt into private testing and IVF conscious of age. Tests didn’t flag up any concerns for me but DH sperm analysis was not great, but not terrible. Only at transfer was a problem discovered with me, when they failed to insert catheter through the cervix....referred for hysteroscopy and cervical dilation and arranged for FET ASAP afterwards. Thankfully dilation opened cervix and they were able to complete transfer, which was successful.

I was also advised that it couldn’t have affected fertility - same theory. I’m not entirely convinced, but will never know for sure. As we were all already fully into the IVF process, I have no experience of having had treatment and then trying naturally but I’d imagine they’ll want to try the dilation. Sorry if I’ve not been much help. Wanted to reply as I posted a question when diagnosed and had no replies. From that I assumed it was perhaps not very common.

I also didn't realise I had CS until IVF transfer trial and they couldn't get through. I fainted during hysteroscopy previously but it was never flagged as something to worry about! I had cervical dilation procedure a few weeks ago which worked and they can get catheter in. Just hope it stays open enough for proper ET in a few weeks.

I was also told this wouldn't have been the cause of our unexplained fertility. I've always had odd periods too... so who knows!

My periods were always 28 days and normal

I did have smears flag up and had a cone biopsy plus freezing and lasering of cancerous cells when I was 20 ish

Always wonder if that made a difference and skin grew over and had cs

I had sex easily and no pain and as said previously if blood can drop down , sperm can get up

It seems more common and only find out when have ivf or fertility ops

All ivf clinics should do mock transfers. That’s how abroad found out with me
