Period return after unsuccessful IVF

Usually a 27/28 day cycle but today is day 30 and no sign of AF and no AF like symptoms (apart from irritability - but that might just be Christmas - haha!).

I’m counting day 1 as the day I started AF like bleeding 8 days after transfer. I continued to take progesterone for another few days, should I be counting from the day I ceased progesterone?

It would just be lovely to have my cycle to return and I then feel I can move on with my life and also start planning the next cycle for a couple of months time. I also don’t especially want a heavy AF spoiling Christmas Day Confused

Any words of experience / advice would be much appreciated

My period was much later after my failed ivf. The second period after that was roughly average for me; the third was back to my cycle. However I’ve not managed to catch any ovulation on the sticks yet on the days I religiously ovulated previously.

No one explains this part of ivf. What happened when it fails and you are not doing any more.

That’s so true @GreyC it is very isolating.

In my experience (7 cycles) it takes about a week to ten days longer for your first period to return, then back to normal.

@Youngatheart00 I hope your next cycle is a positive one.

We aren’t having anymore. I can’t face it.
The positive is we are planning to start the adoption route in the next year x

Mine took 8 weeks to come back, my clinic fully explained everything about how it would take my body time to recover from all the drugs they pumped me full off.

Do any of you guys get bloating/stomach cramps - like my ovaries are really sore! Around ovulation since your ivf?

This is my second natural ovulation since my failed transfer. The pain is no where near as bad as last month. But feels like my ovaries are over reacting and sore!

Mine came early. I had my bleed from failed ivf 25 days ago and AF came yesterday. So a 24 day cycle for me when I'm usually 28. I guess there is no rhyme or reason to any of it! Just another thing we have zero control over!

My period arrived on day 33 and has been heavy 😖

@GreyC I’ve not had the pain you described but I had an initial scan with a new clinic last week. They described my ovaries as still looking ‘very busy’ with much higher AFC than prior to my IVF. I’m not sure whether this is good or bad, but what it does show is that the ovaries clearly stay stimulated /more active past the date we stop stimulating them. Bearing in mind I stopped stimming almost 2 Months ago!
