Have been referred for IUI. Looking for anyone who is awaiting or has been through this please and is able to share their journey and if they had success or required further treatment.
Thanks in advance

Bump

Yes we had 2 rounds and both worked first time, one resulting in a miscarriage the other our wonderful dd. We had it alongside clomid and another drug to induce ovulation. I had a history of struggling to get pregnant and recurrent miscarriage. The second round of iui combined with prednisone, progesterone suppository, fragmin and aspirin worked! I hope it works for you too!

We had 6 rounds and sadly didn’t work, went on to have IVF which worked 2nd time, if I had my time again I would go straight to IVF but without being able to predict the future we weren’t to know IUI wouldn’t be successful for us and as a PP has had a positive outcome it does work for some. Good luck I hope you also get a positive outcome.

Thank you for your replies.
@Jemimapuddleduk sorry to read of your miscarriage. Glad the other cycle worked for you!
I don't think I'd be able to have anymore Clomid, as I have already taken 6 months. Fingers crossed we have some luck! Thank you. 😊

@Bonkersblond sorry IUI didn't work for you, but glad you have had good luck with IVF.
I think we'll give it a cycle or 2. Consultant said we can always go to IVF if we decide we don't want to continue with the IUI. As you said, it is hard to know what to do! Think because it's funded by the NHS though, we'll give it a go. Thank you 😊

Happy IUI story here. Clomid (which made me progressively nuttier every month for about six months) followed by a single round of IUI. DS1 is now 15. DS2 (13) was a surprise, DS3 (10) was a shock.

@perkele thank you so much for sharing. So nice to read! Fingers crossed we are lucky with IUI too. Lovely to read of your other pregnancies too. I love the surprise and shock haha! I'm sure they were lovely surprises and shocks.
Thanks again for sharing 😊

We paid for our IUI while waiting for our funded IVF. It was a choice of either/or funded and as IUI was so much less expensive it made sense. Our IVF funding finally came through when DS1 was about a year old. We were happily no longer eligible for it.

And they are wonderful surprises and shocks. I can't quite believe how wonderful it's all turned out.

Endlessdaysofrainour surprise was after 6 IUI, 2nd attempt of IVF successful, 3 years later, age 42 probably only DTD once in the month I had a natural surprise pregnancy resulting in DD. Not sure why I had to suffer 6 years of infertility. Try and stay positive, we got through our journey keeping a sense of humour, very hard at times I know. I don’t forget that period of my life and really feel for those going through it xx

@perkele I'm so glad you had luck with IUI.
Completely understand going private - we have for a few things along the way.
The waiting list in our area for IUI and IVF is both 3-4 months and they think we'd be good candidates for IUI, so I think we'd at least give it a go and see how we feel after 1/2 goes. If unsuccessful, we'll move onto IVF.
Thanks for sharing 😊
@Bonkersblond so sorry that you had to endure 6 years of infertility, it's so shitty! Really glad you had your happy ending after it all.
Thank you. I am trying to stay positive. Hopefully we will have success with treatment, if not naturally!
No of course, it was a big part of your life. I'm happy you have your dd xx
