Hi all so we are finally starting our IVF after 13 years of nothing. My AMH level is low and my BMI is 30 so the drs are asking me to lose this but I am not sure how this works when we are starting. Would love to speak to anyone going through the same :-) I start my meds tomorrow and I am kinda excited but then do not want to get my hopes up x

Hi mrsloub
Nothing wrong with being excited! I’m also starting soon and I’m nervous/excited too! We’ve had 6years of nothing so I’m glad to get started. Also very scared it won’t work and trying not to get my hopes up too.
I rarely see anyone on forums who have have been trying 4+ years and not tried ivf yet.
My amh is also low but only lower side of normal, and I have a blocked tube. Ivf manly
For male factor though. Are you on long protocol? X

My bmi is also around 28-29 😬 I’ve read it shouldn’t really affect the ivf as long as not seriously overweight, as I feel I’m just a normalish body if you know what I mean. I’m
Trying and failing miserably
To diet though! Lol

I sympathize with you guys but I'm not exactly in the same boat (we've tried IVF with mixed success twice plus all the other embryo transfers etc). Still hoping to get pregnant with IVF sometime early next year. Anyway my husband had a lot of success losing weight using this free app from Google play called fatsecret incase you guys want to try:

play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatsecret.android

Good luck in your baby making journey! :-D

Hi Millie20202 yeah i dont think it helped but i had lowered my bmi and now after honemoon ive put lots back on and i am also trying but failing lol

What's a long protocal ? We went via the nhs over the 10 years but had male fertility and the NHS would not allow this as my BMI was to high.

The problem with the BMI system is is weight and height and doesnt take anything else into account.

Ive started clomid times 3 today plus gonal f and monopur for the next 10 days x

When are you starting?

Wanted to wish you very luck in the world. We had IVF for both of our children. Although we had tried other treatment and IUI multiple times the IVF worked first time so good luck to you!

Good luck!! I did a short protocol back in June/July which resulted in a freeze all cycle as we got 47 eggs and I was at very high risk of ohss. I had one frozen blast put back in September and am currently (and nervously!) 9 weeks pregnant!

Oh and we were trying just over 4 years when we started ivf - we have to self fund as i have a dd from a previous relationship and it took us a while to take the plunge and take out a (disgustingly large) loan to cover the treatment
