Got a copy of the letter my fertility consultant sent to the GP today in the post. I'd remembered from my appointment that my testosterone and something else were elevated in my blood results, but couldn't remember which hormone it was.
Testosterone wasn't so bad, considering I have PCOS (a level of 2.1) but this other hormone, androstenedione, came back at 10.6 and of course, I've been researching - and now it has scared the heck out of me! This seems to be pretty darn high, even given the most liberal reference ranges I can find.
I'm not really sure what I want out of this message - the consultant didn't seem concerned, saying only that my results were normal for PCOS. Perhaps I just want some reassurance that I'm not actually a man! Does anyone else remember their own values, and how has you story gone since?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the diatribe!
