No bleed on Down Reg

Hi everyone!

I’m new to these boards but you look like a lovely friendly bunch so I just wanted to ask some advice!

I’m on my first round of ICSI and on day 17 of burserelin injections but I still haven’t had a bleed. Has this happened to anyone else? I’m not due to go back to the clinic for a scan until next Monday so hoping it’ll come between now and then!

Thanks for your help! x

Morning!
I'm at the end of my down regging (have my DR scan this morning). I've been on Synarel nasal spray so a bit different to you, but my withdrawal bleed/period appeared 10 days after starting the spray.
Sounds like yours should arrive anytime soon. Do you have any normal period like symptoms at all? Perhaps you could have a chat with your clinic, see what they say? 🤞🏻❤️

Hey!

Thanks for replying! I might give my clinic a call this morning and see what they say, just for peace of mind. I did start down reg on day 4 of my cycle which was the last day of my period so not sure if that’s why I haven’t had a bleed. My AF isn’t due for another 10 days or so so would kind of make sense really!

Good luck for your scan this morning! I’ll be keeping everything crossed for u that it goes well! 🤞Have u ever done IVF before? x

Yes definitely give the clinic a call, just for peace of mind. I'm sure everything is absolutely fine, it's just the unknown sometimes 😘
Yes this is my 3rd round (2nd ICSI). Is this your first? It's titally different for everyone.
Thank you so much, just hoping I can start injections soon as I'm very tired. Need those hormones pumped back on!
Good luck and let me know how things go ❤️😘 x

Thanks so much for your advice, it’s really helpful. Yes this is my first round and it’s all a bit overwhelming at the minute! 😬

I hope your scan goes well and you can start the next phase now, I’m sure you’re desperate to feel a bit more awake! Good luck and let me know how it goes! x

Hi lovey!
I know, its very overwhelming and sometimes your head gets a bit scrambled with all the new information and emotions...but the important thing to remember is that you must take care of yourself over the coming months. I've taken to having nice relaxing baths with Epsom salts and lavender oil once a week to really have some time for me.
Anytime you need a rant or to ask any questions I'm always here and will always try to help. There's so much support on these forums during a time that can feel quite isolating if none of your close friends or family have been through it.
My scan went well today thank you 😘 thankfully I've successfully down regged so my stimulation injections start on Thursday 👍🏻🤞🏻
Hope you're feeling OK. Did you call the clinic in the end? Xx

Hey!

I’m so pleased your scan went well and I’ll be crossing my fingers that you start to feel a bit better with the stim injections!
I didn’t end up calling the clinic yesterday 🙈 I’m on nightshift so fell asleep and slept all day so it was too late by the time I got up! 💤 I’m useless!
Thanks so much for all of your help, I really do appreciate it, it is so nice talking to someone who gets it if that makes sense! x

Aw well you can be let off for that 😂 I hope you're OK and not feeling too shattered with the night shifts!
Injections start tonight so on to the next stage! 🤞🏻 X

Aww thank you, I quite like night shifts normally but I feel absolutely shattered this week! 😴 feeling like a bit of a zombie! It probably doesn’t help tho that instead of sleeping I’m googling stupid things about infertility! We’re having ICSI as my DH has low count and morphology. The clinic told me all my results were fine but from looking online I think my amh might be slightly on the low side so I’m stupidly reading all about it and scaring myself! 🙈 I’m a nightmare!
How exciting you’re starting tonight! Good luck with the injections! Let me know how you get on, have u had side effects from stims on your previous cycles? What meds are u on? x

Ahh I totally get the zombie feeling 🙈 just ride with it and try and get as much rest in as you can.
We too have MFI. My DH's sperm is lacking in a specific enzyme essential for fertilisation to occur, which we found out after our first round as we had zero fertilisation 😔 so that have to do ICSI and add the protein in in the lab. Amazing what they can do, we actually feel very lucky! I've also got AMH on the low side, think it's about 4.5.
Im on Synarel nasal spray for down reg then onto a high dose of 375 Gonal F. What meds are you on? X

Helsbee16 · 31/10/2019 18:08

PS....the googling is all part of the process, everyone does it but try not to too much because every case is different so try not to compare yourself to anyone else 😘 easier said than done I know!!

Report
Helsbee16 · 31/10/2019 19:13

Also, sorry, forgot to say I didn't really have any side effects from the stims except feeling slightly bloated as time went on. I think it all depends on how your ovaries respond too 😘

Oh wow, it really is amazing what the docs can do! It’s also quite scary that you only ever find out about these problems by going through fertility treatment, we really are lucky to have so much help around!
Are your rounds nhs funded? We live in the north east and thankfully get 3 funded rounds, I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for people who live in areas where there’s no funding at all!
I’m on burserelin injections for down reg then menopur when I start stims. I haven’t really had any side effects from the meds yet so keep expecting them to hit me all at once!
How are you feeling? I really hope this is your round and you get a super sticky bean, it sounds like you deserve it after everything you’ve been though! x

Morning!
It really is amazing that they can do so much to help us....but it is at a cost for us. We had our first round funded by the NHS but I'm afraid that's it (thankful we got one though!). This was almost the trial round for us because, like you say, it was following this they realised there was more of a problem! Crazy!
I'm feeling OK thanks lovey, first injection last night done and dusted. DH says it's weird seeing me just crack on like it's second nature 😂 looking forward to a weekend of nothing now to be honest.
How you doing? Did your bleed arrive? Xx

Well done on getting the first injection out the way! It sounds like you are a complete pro at this! 😂 I seemed to do fine at first but every injection for the last week has ended up bruising somehow! 🤷‍♀️ No idea why but my stomach looks ridiculous!
I can’t believe how unfair the postcode lottery for fertility treatment is across the country, it just seems crazy! It makes me realise how lucky we are to get the full 3 rounds funded, we would struggle to pay privately for more than one round I think.
I’m doing good thanks, still haven’t had a bleed but just decided not to stress over it. My AF would be due on Wednesday anyway so if I go to the appointment on Monday and they want me to continue down regging at least it should only be another couple of days fingers crossed! Still hoping for a miracle bleed over the weekend but I think it’s wishful thinking to be honest!
When’s your next appointment at the clinic? Do you have to go for regular scans now? (Sorry for all the questions, I’m a bit clueless!) x

Hey!
Ah I find the bruising starts when I've been injecting for a while as everything starts to get a bit bloated and there's less room for the medication to go! Some days I'll need to do 2 injections one after the other if there's not enough dose in one pen 😩 oh the joys hey! Our war wounds 😂
Yep, apparently because of where we live we're deemed to be able to afford nearly £8k each time! It's a real struggle and have had to accept help from family and a dear friend this time but it won't stop us!
Your bleed will come....she's just taking her sweet time! So strange that after years of dreading AF every month, you end up willing it to arrive at this stage of IVF!
I've got appointments scheduled for next Wednesday and Friday to monitor the progress of the follicles. In my last 2 rounds I've had to buy more drugs to carry on for a few days but I'm preying that doesn't happen this time 🤞🏻 we shall see anyway. No worries at all!! There are so many questions in our heads, I totally get it. I'm glad you're asking and hope I can help answer a little :)
What's the next step for you? X

Hey all. I'm on day 10 of Buserelin injections and (touch wood) had no side effects so far. In fact my mood has been so much better. It's either the relief of finally starting this process or the Buserelin is having a very positive effect on my hormones! Either way - hurrah!
Anyway, my usual AF start day would be around today/tomorrow (I am usually very regular) and apologies if TMI but I think it's started today...usually it starts and it's very clearly started ie. full on bleed from day 1, but this is much much less so.
I know everyone's experiences are different but just wondered if this sounds normal, like is the Buserelin actually working?
My baseline scan is scheduled for Friday 8th with stim injections due to start that evening, so hopefully timings will all be ok! xx

Wow! 8k each round! It's no wonder you're struggling! It's so unfair but I know you'll do whatever it takes, fingers crossed this round is the one! 🙏 I have every faith!
I'm having a bad day today, really emotional for no apparent reason, think it's all the hormones and I'm praying it means AF is on her way! And you're right, it is the first time I've ever said that, pretty ironic isn't it! 😂 I just feel sorry for my poor husband having to put up with me!
I've got my baseline scan on Monday so will see what happens but I'm fully expecting to have to wait AF before I start stims.
Do you know when you're likely to have EC? How have u found it in the past? I'm a bit freaked out about it to be honest! Hopefully the sedation will just knock me out!

Hi Jojo

I’m on day 22 of burserelin and still haven’t had a bleed yet so I can’t help with that sorry! I have heard that AF can be either lighter or heavier during down reg tho so I’m sure you’ll be fine!
I’m glad to hear you’re feeling good and haven’t had any side effects so far, how are u finding the injections?

Aww I'm really sorry to hear you're having a bad day! It's such a roller-coaster of emotions isn't it? Definitely could be a sign of AF by the sounds of things 🤞🏻🤞🏻 keeping everything tightly crossed for you for your scan on Monday lovey. I know what you mean, my DH has had to witness me balling my eyes out at the most ridiculous things. We watched the latest spiderman film last night and I was crying at the end when I realised it was the first Marvel film that didn't feature Stan Lee's little cameo 🙈🙄 poor bloke!
If everything goes OK over the next week(ish), fingers crossed EC will be around 14th/15th November. I was nervous too but honestly you'll be absolutely fine. They give you a nice little sedative and you'll just feel like you've had a few too many wines and hopefully drift off 😊 then 15 minutes later you wake up and it's all done. Maybe wear some nice cosy fluffy socks so you're all warm when you come round. The nurses will bring you a cuppa and some biscuits. You'll probably get a little bit of bloody afterwards but mine was only slight and just needed to wear a pad for the rest of the day.
Easier said than done but try not to stress about it, it really will be fine 😘 x

I’m just having an off day I think but I definitely know what u mean, it is such a rollercoaster of emotions! I can just imagine your OH while you were crying at Spider-Man! 😂 I was hysterical at DIY sos the other night and my DH was a bit bewildered haha! To be fair tho I always cry a little bit at DIY sos! 🙈
Thank you for putting my mind at rest a bit about EC, I think I like the sound of feeling like I’ve had a few wines, it’s been a while! 😂
If things go to plan for me then mine is scheduled for 18th Nov so just a few days behind yours, I have a feeling it will be delayed slightly but fingers crossed not! It’s stressing me a little bit because I start a new job on Wednesday, still the same place but I’ll have a new manager and team and all the projected dates for EC and ET fall on May days off at the minute so if things are delayed it means I’ll have to go and beg for days off straight away which isn’t great! Can’t be helped tho!
How have your work been? Have u told everyone you’re going through IVF? x

Sorry I’ve got another question for you! 😊 Just wondering about the baseline scan, was it a vaginal ultrasound again or did they scan your stomach? Thank you so much for all your help, I really do appreciate it! x

DIY SOS gets me every single time!! I'm such an emotional person anyway so imagine what I'm like pumped full of fertility hormones 🙈
Ooh new job, congrats! Does your new manager know what you're going through? If not and the days you need to go to clinic change from what you're expecting then you'll just have to make something up. I know it's not ideal!
I know exactly what you mean though and I'm trying not to think or worry about that aspect too much myself. I started a new job in April and although I'm pretty sure my boss would be amazing, I've decided not to tell him I'm doing IVF. We told lots of friends the first 2 times and I told my employer at the time but found it was so very painful having to tell so many people the outcome so we decided to keep it very quiet this time. I actually feel a lot more relaxed too!
Every scan I've had throughout the process has been vaginal but you get used to it! No probs at all!! Ask away. Just glad I can help. It'll be good having a little sense of what to expect, but all clinics are slightly different so may not be exactly the same for you 😘 x

Hey, how are u feeling today? I’m having a better day thankfully and over yesterday’s meltdown! I’m pretty emotional normally too so I’m always crying at stuff on the TV, I’m sure my DH thinks I’m crazy half the time!
I spoke to my new boss over the phone a couple of weeks ago and told her we’re doing IVF so I might need time off for scans etc but I didn’t go in to any details, will have to see what happens over the next few days and then might have to tell her a bit more just to make it easier to take time off last minute.
I kind of wish I hadn’t told anyone too but I work for the emergency services so I work a 24hr shift pattern and will have to go on restricted duties after ET so it’s hard to keep it quiet! I can imagine it would make things less stressful tho, I think it does add on the pressure of it’s not successful and u know everyone’s going to ask how it’s gone!
Probably something to consider for next time!
I thought it would be a vaginal scan, I don’t mind them but it’s good to know beforehand so thank you! When we had our initial appointment at the clinic I’d been at work half the day and went straight to the appointment expecting to just have a discussion about things. Took me totally by surprise when they wanted to do a scan and I was mortified cos I hadn’t shaved my legs! 🙈 Haha totally stupid I know but at least I can be prepared for tomorrow now! x
