Ive found the hardest part of IVF the progesterone pessaries is it just me or do they make anyone else feel really depressed and struggling to get out of bed?

Progesterone is awful! I hate it.

I have been on it now for nearly 6 weeks. I am currently still in my pjs on the sofa as I can't bring myself to do anything!

Lethargy, bloating and the worst of all it made my IBS flare up really bad. I was in intense pain.

It has got a little better the more I've used it. I don't know if my body is just getting used to it.

Good luck!

Progesterone is a pain, especially after you get your BFP as the pessary version can cause bleeding and spotting too - so for the first 16 weeks I was constantly calling either my clinic or midwife

@GrumpyHoonMain thats another thing my clinic said only to take it until test day i know everyones different but im scared to stop them soo early if i was lucky enough to get a bfp..did u have a healthy pregnancy? I need to buy new underwear the pessaries ruin them aswell! I didnt want to use pantyliners as they irrate my skin and i could do without more irritation atm uuugggh

So far yes it has been healthy - touchwood - I am almost 34 weeks. I do think stopping them at your bfp is too soon - my clinic advised all younger women to continue 4-8 weeks post the bfp. So if you do get your BFP insist on the prescription being extended - most clinics will do this as there are only benefits (no disadvantages) of progesterone supplementation

this post came up in active threads bar, so im not using progestrone for same issue, but it is really really common for it to cause low mood. Its why a lot of people get depression on the pill or mirena, or minipill.
At the moment i have to take it in 2nd half of my cycle of HRT and I hate that bit. Its slightly better if i take it at night.
I dont have any helpful suggestions for you about it, but the side effects you are experiencing are normal. Sorry

Oh my God yes! I absolutely hated the things!!

I was on 4 pesseries a day and really struggled to function. When I took my last one at 15 weeks I could have cried with happiness!

I wish I could say it gets better, but for me it didn’t until I stopped taking them. Although all I wanted to do was snooze, long shifts meant I couldn’t and I did find that keeping mildly active at the weekends helped to avoid that slump. Sort of.

@2fingers22018 oh dear πŸ™ˆ Perhaps it’s pregnancy hormones in general - I was not a crier at all before I fell pregnant, now I weep at everything! πŸ˜‚
