Hi all

There was already a thread for people cycling in October that i wanted to join but canny find it anywhere.

Im about to do my 6th (jeez) cycle of ICSI.
I already have a 4 year old DS from cycle number 4 and we decided we would try for a sibling.

Im currently just about to ovulate (getting the flashy smiley face on OPK) then i will start stimming on my next period at the start of October.

I had an awful cycle last November (my 5th) where i only got 2 mature eggs and non fertilised. This was because the wrong dose of drugs were given at the start of stimming.
So, with this slightly in the back of my mind, im still optimistic for a better cycle this time Smile

Hey. I've just found out this morning that we will start our first cycle end of October. It'll be ICSI. Went to out appt this morning hoping we would be told we could have a few goes of IUI (with frozen sperm pre chemo) but got dropped with the bomb of ICSI is the only way as the frozen sperm isn't defrosting well :(
I'm petrified and excited at the same time!! We are self funding due to me being 4lbs over the cut off, and now I feel like I'm in a sudden minefield of trying to choose a package!

impatientmammy · 27/09/2019 17:29

@Mseddy could you not loose 4lbs ? Even if you need to weigh in your underwear it might be worth it x

Report
Mseddy · 27/09/2019 18:28

@impatientmammy I've already lost nearly 2 and a half stone so 4lbs is easier said than done at this point. Plus it counts through your whole cycle, so if I went over the weight we would have to pay. And that would mean we would have to pay the clinic direct rather than have the options of packages. We've weighed it all up over the past few weeks and we feel more comfortable this way regardless of the cost. X

That's amazing @Mseddy well done. Can't believe how strict the weight thing is. It def sounds like it would add unnecessary stress x

Thanks @Mseddy thanks my thinking too :) just hoping with everything we have it works we have limited it to 3 iui cycles and then we are looking at ivf after that just based on what the clinic says. X

That's exciting! Two follicles as well!

Just still waiting for our treatment to start. Got another 2 weeks before our appointment and then 3 weeks before my cycle is due to start. It all just feels like it's dragging now!

Hi everyone, complete forum newbie here.
Just started my second course of ICSI this evening, had an unsuccessful run in August. Basically, they gave me a low dose of stim meds (menopur) because I had a good supply of follicles, but unfortunately only ended up with 2 follicles that got large enough and only one egg from that. That egg fertilised to a top grade embryo which I had transferred on day 3, but sadly it was not to be.
So just had my first dose of menopur tonight, this time they are giving me a higher dose, so really hoping more follicles are simulated.
As a bit of background, it's male factor infertility with us and that's why we are having ICSI. As far a we know there are no issues with me but I had to lose 4 ½ stone to get my BMI down to get NHS funding, so that took a couple of years, so it's been a bit of a journey, as it is for everyone :-)
Good luck to everyone on their treatments x

Hi @LucyLucyT welcome!
We are having icsi for MFI too, due to start at the end of the month. That's a shame about your first cycle, I have heard from people I know who have had NHS treatment that their drug protocols can be a bit more sweeping rather than patient focused. Fingers crossed this time they get it right!! Well done on loosing so much weight! I lost 2.5stone to get to NHS protocol but then we decided to go private anyway!
Are you on long or short protocol?

@LaniB I'm dreading being back in the TWW game! Because we found out in April that we had zero sperm, it meant no more guessing game each month! Next month we will be back to the guessing game with added pressure though!!

@Mseddy thanks, I am on the antagonist short protocol. Heading back on Friday for scan and then likely to start Fyremadel on Saturday. I'm quite nervous about it because I'm worried my ovaries still won't respond, but really hoping they do, and know it'll still be a bit early to tell.
Good luck with the start of yours, do you know what protocol you will be on?

Mseddy · 10/10/2019 18:16

@LucyLucyT I know people who have reacted total opposite end of the scales in different cycles, so don't let last time get you down. Have they done an AMH test on you? I'm not 100% sure about our protocol yet, we have an appt on 20th where will be told everything. I can't go on the pill because of migranes so I think that means I have to go onto short protocol x

Hi October cycle buddies,
I would like to join.

I am starting my 3rd try at IVF after 2 failed rounds with PGS testing all Aneuploid embryos.
This time we are doing no PGS testing in hopes to finally give Embryo transfer a try.

Starting stims meds gonal-F tomorrow.

Report
LucyLucyT · 11/10/2019 18:35

@Mseddy I can't remember about AMH levels specifically but they were happy that I had good reserves. Good news today, had my scan after 4 days of stim meds and my ovaries are responding better this time, such a relief! Next scan on Tuesday and starting Fyremadel tmrw.
Good luck with your appointment on 20th.

@Violet180 sorry to hear about your failed attempts. Good luck with your stim meds, hoping this is going to be the one that works for you.

@LucyLucyT that's great news about your response this time! Fingers crossed for lots of nice eggs!!

@Violet180 welcome! Have you got a start date?

How is everyone getting on? I have a follicle scan tomorrow, just another baseline before treatment. I only had 9 follicles on my last scan which was was a bit of a blow. I'm hoping that I have more this time, I don't even know if that can happen! We have our nurse consultation on Sunday to get our meds and our protocol. It all feels like it's finally starting!

@Mseddy thanks. I am on day 4 of stims injections. It will be my first cycle after taking DHEA and CoQ10 for 3 months. Crossing my fingers it has a positive effect and not a negative one as my doctor didn't advise it. She said it was my choice but they don't have enough proof it does good.

Well I'm going on coq10 being a good thing! I had an AFC scan in June and only had 9 follicles. I gave up caffine and alcohol and started taking coq10. Been for another scan today before we start treatment the week after next and I now have 16 follicles! I'm over the moon with the improvement!

@Mseddy @Violet180 keeping everything crossed for positive outcomes for you both in the coming days.

I had another scan today, got about 10 follicles in each ovary, much better response than my last round. Not all are big enough but hopefully we get a few eggs at least, back on Friday for another scan and then likely to have egg retrieval on Monday xx
